Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

My guess is you'll probably see the updated paint job when they ship. He might show some of his own in-progress shots, but the final product is usually a (pleasant) surprise when it shows up.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Tombstone is on CMT channel right now and I have it on in the background as I work. No doubt Doc is a great character and performance but man there are a lot of great characters in this movie. Is this film accurate to the period and people? Not even close. Is it a great film? Oh hell yeah. Such a fun movie. Makes waiting on this guy even harder.

I was watching the updated version of True Grit today too and that's another movie with great characters and performances. Rooster would be another great western figure to have.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

I agree with you on both points. And I probably like the Bridges Rooster better than the John Wayne version, but both were pretty damn great.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Yeah I usually get chastised but I personally don't like John Wayne. I think Bridge's character is so amazing. He is thorough and really goes for it. Epic.

As much as I like Ringo I would prefer a Wyatt to stand next to my Doc. That relationship is historic. I like the line from Tombstone where Doc is asked why he is doing it and he says because Wyatt is his friend and the guy responds with "I have lots of friends." Doc says "I don't." Really sums up the importance they both have for each other.

What I like about Ringo is Doc Holiday knew and understood him all too well. The scene were they talking Latin to each other shows that. Both were educated men who choose this other life. I especially love the line Doc said to Wyatt, " A man like Ringo has got a great big hole, right in the middle of him. He can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it."
And his response to Kate, "Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him."

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

I used to not like Wayne, because he represented a certain part of U.S. culture that I never really bought into. But in recent years I've learned to appreciate what he was and did. I think his persona is a really critical part of why the original True Grit, the Searchers, and the Man Who Shot Liberty Valence were so great.

Exactly. Thats the great thing about Tombstone is there are so many great lines through the whole movie.

Wyatt Earp: You gonna do somethin'? Or are you just gonna stand there and bleed?

Doc Holliday: Oh. Johnny, I apologize; I forgot you were there. You may go now.

Doc Holliday: Maybe poker's just not your game, Ike. I know: let's have a spelling contest.

Yeah, Liberty Valence was actually his greatest role IMO.
Contrary to popular belief the Dukes characters didn't always get the girl and didn't always live. His character did all the right and noble things in that story and there was no happy ending for him. Very bitter sweet story and very dark at times.

Hopefully Rainman will get to that character someday.

P.S. I wonder how many people realize Billy Bob Thornton is in the movie?(Tombstone)
Amazing what losing a few pounds will do for you looks wise.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Loving all these quotes from the film. They all sum up the greatest moments for myself. I too would prefer Ringo first. The relationship between the two is so interesting. Almost like their brothers in a twisted way.

I really wish I had picked up the full set. Would have made the wait more exciting. Instead I'll be receiving a head.........But thanks to my friend armysoldier74B I'll have the chance to make the full figure.

Can't wait for my full set! Working on a case to display him in:

Less is so much more when it comes to displays IMO, especially visually-stunning pieces. As much as that looks cool, something very minimal, as to not detract from the art displayed, to me, is always the way to go. :wink1:

I know what you mean, but with lighting this could look great!, I'd love to get a custom case for my one too with the movie title and a quote engraved in the corner, I might ask station sometime for one.

I have to agree...I don't even like to use stands with my figures if I can help it, and if I have to, I prefer plain black.

Agree 110%, the artwork looks cool but I think in the end youll be taking away from a fantastic piece especially closing it in a small space.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

I think we should wait to see the figure in the display before making any conclusions on how it will look.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Only comment is he won't get much light to show off that magnificent sculpt.

To each his own though and cool artwork.
