They didn't mess it up.

Those Aliens were supposed to be different. The roar was badass, and only used once in an epic scene..

The only disgusting abomination Aliens are the ____ty designed ones from AvP:R.

Aliens still stands the test of time after all these years...

I absolutely love that movie to death. :lecture

I love it too. I absolutely love Aliens when I was a child but after watching it on Blu-Ray... to me the details of the alien itself, scary atmosphere and horrific settings aren't good as the 1st.
Alien is much like The Shining. I love how gigantic and hollow the Nostromo looks, much like Overlook hotel. I love air shaft scene in Alien and that bloody elevator in The Shining.
To me, Aliens stood against time only for characters design (Both human and xenomorphs) and story that expanded its universe. Both are good but the atmosphere and the production aren't. I think I just love scary movies lol.

I don't even include the AvP films when discussing Alien designs since they had to change every aspect of the creature to make it more of a fair fight against a Predator. Bigger tail, bigger hands, feet, etc. I liked how they differentiated Griddy thought. That was pretty cool. And epic scene? Sorry man, there wasn't one epic scene in Alien 4!! :thud:

You're right..my bad.

The whole movie was epic.
As are the first 3.

Haha, I think you and I have debated this before!! I just personally don't see how an Alien fan can like anything about the fourth one. My favorite design is from the third movie though so maybe I don't even know what I'm talking about :rotfl

yeah, they were technically part-human. almost totally different monsters.

retrofitted/repainted Resurrection props. same way the ones in AVP were made.

The Alien props looked cheaper in AvP:R, looked like rubber.

And the heads were just absolutely ridiculous. I mean, AvP Aliens weren't Biomechanical like they should have been..but AvP:R's Alien designs were just horrible.

@nothingface

I don't see anything wrong with Resurrection. It was a big crazy, sexual, gigeresque, Biomechanical end to the series, and I liked it.

It made sense after the previous 3, imo.
We had the discovery of the Alien and the fear.. We had the fear, with the will to fight and survive, then we had the embracing it and excepting it, no longer afraid of it.. then we have the big explosion, she became the Alien.

When I watch the first four movies.. Although they are different from one another, I can tell they are an "ALIEN" movie.
I don't get that feeling with AvP/AvP:R though.

Bambi Burster is my favorite design too, followed by Giger's probably.
Doggy wasn't Biomechanical looking..but still a great design..

That's because they were. The studio didn't want to spend as much as they did on the Alien franchise films. That also meant that they recycled a lot of the previous A:R and AvP design which were basically the same design, for the AvP:R design, to keep costs down.

The runner still had some biomechanical features,if you look at pictures of the rod puppet close enough. They are subtle, but there.

There was actually more money and effort put into the A3 design than all the others. It's my favorite as well.

I know there are parts of it that have a biomechanical look, but not near as much as Giger's original. I would have loved it if it had more.

I don't know about the AVPR ALIEN being a bad design, but they certainly got owned by Wolf too easily without putting up as much of a fight as you would expect, especially when there's is a pack of them.

I liked them, but like you, they didn't put the fight I would have expected from them. They certainly weren't the same breed as the ones from ALIENS.

I miss the classic feel that the aliens had back in the day. They would kind of just appear from the background and then their mouths would drop down from the top of their heads all drooly. And then the little mouth would pop out and kill you. The newer movies just didn't have the same suspense as the older ones. But then again that's become true of all sci-fi/horror movies lately.

I know what you guys mean about that old skool alien feel! i.e. The Warrior Xeno that opens the APC door on Hicks in Aliens was awesome, real mean ass looking!!!!
