I watched Alien last night, too! Still didn't quite notice Lambert being naked, and while I don't think the Alien necessarily raped her, there's definitely something disturbing going on there. At least the sense of it, like Ridley said.

I also doubt the Jockeys created the Aliens. It would easily explain how the eggs got on the ship, but the comics and novels (which is all we have to go by before the prequel film) state that the Jockeys have an intense hatred for the Alien species. Even if they'd be useful as weapons, it's unlikely they'd try to tame the thing they hate most.

And, back to the Alien 3 deal, I personally loved it. Each movie had its own feel, but it ended up working well within the franchise. A3 also had plenty more Giger-esque undertones than Aliens. Giger himself said he enjoyed the third movie more than the second. The creature design was more biomechanical, the set and production design also returned to more of a gothic look, and we returned to having a thriller/horror story for just one monster.
The only movie that didn't seem to fit or was unnecessary was Resurrection. I enjoyed it, it just wasn't needed.

Totally agree. I thought Alien 3 was pretty good. It had more of the feel of the first film. The isolated, gothic locations, the single creature slowly picking people off as opposed to just having loads of them running around. Although the CG effects sucked it was still a great design. I find that i usually get a bit bored whenever i watch Resurrection.
And yeah, i dont necessarily think the creature in Alien definitely raped her, but i think its quite possible. Either way, it definitely did something to her as it must have stripped her. If you didnt see it, it was when Ripley goes back and finds Parker on the floor and Lambert's naked legs are seen dangling, covered in blood. Plus Ripley's reaction seems quite horrified.

I could only see her arm dangling in front of the camera with Parker in the background. Guess I'd better pause it next time.

I thought it was her legs. Perhaps i was wrong, i'd never noticed her until people started talking about her being naked. And when i watched it again earlier i thought it was her legs, so assumed thats what they were talking about.

Well, I would like to know the reason for why the Jockeys hate the Aliens so much. Going with the "creation theory", it could be the case that the Jockeys brought destruction upon themselves (and their home planet), after they used Aliens as biological weapons in a war. In other words, Aliens were the type of "weapons" that couldn't be controlled. Now, with all of that said, it's posssilbe that "Xenomorph Prime" and the Jockey home planet are one in the same :horror.

There are so many theories going around concerning the creation of Aliens, and the role of the Jockeys in the universe of the storyline. Hopefully, we'll have some closure in the next Alien film, on what the heck is actually going on.

For the most part, Alien 3 was alright, and I thought that the dog alien was one of the weirdest (and coolest) Xenomorph concepts to hit the screen. But, I just hated the ending... :monkey2

Love the dog alien and liked some elements of alien 3 but the cast let it down and some of the dialogue and delivery was horrible and cringe making.
Particular bits that come to mind are the speech ripley gives the convicts about the company considering them "crud"

Brian glover a yorkshire man in charge of a penal colony give me a break:)
And the rallying cry of the convicts "he killed my mate too I wanna get the wanker" lmao
Don't think thats word for word but is pretty close.
Its nicely shot but the dog alien in the cgi sequences looks rubbish.

Also the preecher guy's speech "nobody gave me nuttin" what a pile:)

Scroll down, you can see Lambert's naked legs dangling in front of the camera. There's another scene where you can see Lambert's foot and the toe looks dislocated.

I dunno, those could just as easily be bare arms in that screengrab. And why would she be 'dangling' anyway?

It's not her arms...it's her feet.

That screen grab sucks. The shot continues on down to show her bare feet.

And the 'dangling' is part of the "what the fook happened to her" bit.

Ah. Never noticed that. So at the very least it seems the alien removed her lower clothing. Now what would Horatio Caine say in that situation.

I don't think the Alien raped Lambert. I got the impression that it didn't see her as a threat and was curious about her strange behavior and wanted a closer look at a living human. I don't even think the Alien has genitals or any knowledge of human genitalia...

:goodpost: Rape is a human concept. Like you I doubt that the Alien even knows what genitals are... If Aliens queen has sex, I would hate to see what the king looks like. And there has never been a king Alien. :lol

And at the point of the first film there had never been a queen alien either. So the whole concept of them having sex wasn't completely out of the question. Especially if the creature took on elements of its host, in this case a human.

A quote from Ridley about the new alien movie

"The film will be really tough, really nasty," he tells The Independent of the 3D two-parter. "It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?"

https://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=28837

There's also a link in the article which I hadn't read before where "Scott reveals a wealth of knowledge on the practicalities of terraforming (taking mankind to the stars!), and says the new films have involved "a lot of underwater research".

Sounds... far out :horror! So, from Ridley Scott's quote, it definitely sounds as if the aliens were engineered in some way... by some sort of higher being(s) :monkey1.

enter space jockeys.:yess:

It sounds as though the mystery of the derelict ship and the spacejockey was just too tempting for them to leave alone. Can't say I blame them but lets just hope it feels right, and that it feels consistent with everything we see in Alien.

I also think it's the idea that the space jockeys brought the destruction on themselves. I figure:

the one space jockey was trying to get all the eggs as far away from his planet as possible, but one ended up getting him. Or he knew he was infected and was going on a suicide mission to get the eggs away. That'll be how the prequel movie(s) ends.

As far as Lambert, I see her "rape" as just being metaphoric. I think the Alien simply ripped through her with his tail up between her legs. Still a horrible way to go, and leaving it up to the audience to fill in the gaps. And there are sexual themes throughout the first movie very subtlely done, which is another reason why I love it so much. There's "Mother", the computer room that looks like a womb, Ash's porn stash in his room (even though he's an android), Ash "raping" Ripley with said porn mag (since he probably has no genitals, had to resort to rolling up a mag), the designs (obviously), etc... There is so much subtext and layers of ideas there. It's more than just a bad ass movie.

And not to be a stickler, but the special effects in Alien3 were not CGI. They were a little dog alien puppet that was bluescreened into the scenes. It was all old-school composite effects. I agree the running alien effects didn't look as good as they were probably hoping they would. They even tried putting an alien suit on a little dog! SOOOO CUTE! :lol But I did love the design and mood of the whole movie. There were a few weird dialog moments for sure. I always thought the scene where she's talking to Dillon and she says the alien is waiting for them in the basement (or somesuch), and he says "there's no basement here" and she responds with a laugh... Just plain weird.
