Because it's Del Toro. And he's a geek, he's one of us, and he loves monsters like we do. So everyone's gonna be all over it. I love the creature and mech design but I couldn't get behind the fights, even in 3D it was just these bad shots of the fights. Only a few times when you can see them fairly well did I really feel impressed.

If anything I'm more impressed with seeing the new Godzilla from Gareth Edwards, who also did the film Monsters, which seemed like a precursor to doing Godzilla. Monsters was alright, as it was more survival and story driven, but I can't wait to see the new Godzilla.

I had no idea what Monsters was about before watching it, but ended up enjoying it quite a bit. It had a District 9 feel to it. I definitely can't wait for Godzilla after seeing it.

Most definitely! Which is interesting how much Elysium was done as if it was in that same District 9 universe. I think Blomkamp will be a lot like Del Toro in the sense that you'll see his style really permeate into his films.

Although not as much as Burton's films.

Gravity 6.5/10

Saw it in IMAX 3D. Happy I watched it but its one of those movies that I wouldn't watch again. Very fitting movie for 3D but I still REALLY don't like 3D. This movie felt more like a documentary with alot of gimmicky 3D effects.

Special When Lit - 7.5/10

A documentary focusing on the people who collect and obsess over pinball machines. As a collector of 1:6 figures I felt so normal and well adjusted after watching this, I recommend it highly.

Currently streaming on Netflix.

House at the End of the Street - 6.5/10

Decent watch for a Tuesday afternoon. Jennifer Lawrence is hot and gives it some credibility and the twist was well done.

Prisoners - starring Hugh Jackman 7.8/10

Really enjoyed this movie. Initially chosen by my wife i was a little sceptical at first but the great twist and turn story line made this movie a big hit for me and really enjoyed. Its basically a child abduction story line but one which will keep you guessing all the time. Gotta love the way the director decided to end the movie....talk about leaving you wanting more! :panic::panic:

Definately a good couples movie :1-1:

Vampyr - 5/10

This was like watching a film with half the script missing. Some interesting visual techniques for the time and the German surrealist style are the only compelling things about it.
