I happen to still think its a very good movie but that's incidental. When I said what you quoted I was referring to this forum generally. Everyone (apart from the cool people) was giving it 10/10. I'm sure you remember.
Ah, I gave it 7,5/10 back there. Can't say I'd rate it differently today... Maybe just 7/10I happen to still think its a very good movie but that's incidental. Avatar was still the worst here though. The hype that movie generated was the most unwarranted I've ever seen on the internet.
yeah. I rate movies for what they are, not for what I think they are. If that makes any sense...That's actually not a bad score by any means.
The way you talk it down I thought you'd rate it a 4 or something

Also the humor was actually funny and the finale wasn't a copy of "Phantom Menace".Guardians did everything that the Avengers movie did + told origin stories for all of it's characters without getting bloated.
I rate based on personal enjoyment.
And pretty much any of my faves from the 80s/90s get shameless 10/10s, T1, T2, P1, Aliens etc etc.
Iron Man / Winter Soldier / Guardians / Avengers
Here's why Guardians edges out Avengers to me, they did everything that the Avengers movie did + told origin stories for all of it's characters without getting bloated. Without the other movies, as a stand alone, Avengers simply does not work on the same level. You would feel no emotion for these characters that have no back story.
The Avengers biggest victory is a technical one. They successfully combined actors from existing movies. And that's nothing new. Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein came out in 1948 folks.
I rate movies for what they are, not for what I think they are.
Hmmm, that's fair enough if you insist on comparing them as stand-alones. But otherwise it shouldn't work against Avengers. Avengers didn't do origin stories for its characters because it didn't need to and that was the intention in the first place with each having their own movies beforehand.
GOTG had exactly the same kind of humour as Avengers
