Prometheus - 10/10

I really thought that this was going to be a horrible movie, given all of the negative reaction from Alien fans over the years. But, I finally had the chance to watch it on Blu last night, and I thought it was intelligently written. The philosophical questions about human origin were left unanswered, and instead, it's up to the viewers to formulate their own ideas and theories. I can appreciate that the film didn't spoon-feed all of the answers, and it actually required viewers to think after watching it. Although I'm very much looking forward to a sequel, there doesn't even need to be a Prometheus 2, in my opinion.

The film was visually stunning on Blu, and the surround sound quality was phenomenal.

How women **** things up..... coff I mean Drive 10/10

I love that it's light on dialogue yet so expressive, the music and sound mix is one 80's eargasm.

Also, Carey Mulligan, what a lady :drool

Anyone care to tell me what you think the ending means?

Personally I'd like to think he want back to get the girl, since there was nothing else in his way

The most massive and expensive space flight in history of mankind, the crew of which consisting of incompetent amateur scientists/military/pilots, need to find a planet by using a prehistoric painting on a wall. You are saying that such a plot is okay for an ambitious sci-fi film?

They didn't "need" the cave painting to find the planet, hence the fact that they located it with their own technology. :slap

The cave painting gave relevance to this specific planet/solar system. They had no reason to pay attention to that area before seeing the cave painting, that doesn't mean they were unable to find it without the cave painting.

And yeah, characters made dumb decisions and weren't as smart as they could have been. Whoopdie******in doo.

Well, Weyland was a rich old guy, close to death, and he obvious had a trillion dollars to burn on a wild goose chase for immortality. Rich people do crazy things with their money...

He could have spent more, for better hired help, though.

Without bad decision making, every horror movie would be 5 minutes long.

Ethereal voice in house says "Get Out!" Smart family leaves immediately, movie ends.

Couple sees hitchhiker on road, decides not to pick him up, movie ends.

Scientists discover life while exploring planet With robotic rover, decide contact unwise without further study, movie ends.

Fair enough. I only got up to the third one, so I'm not up to speed with all of it.

That SSC PF thing.. man. I was praying for Dave to change that clickable thumbnail at the top of the forum page because I just couldn't look at it. It was right next to the 'settings' button too!!! How someone can have that terrible thing in their house, is beyond me. :lol

I can't do horror stuff. Just freaks me the **** out. It's been taking a big nut up just to have Lady Death, but I could never get like Freddy or Pinhead. **** that. I'm good.

Yeah, I know what you mean. :lol

I do appreciate / like some of the classics like the original Halloween & NOES etc. I just can't handle the occult / demonic stuff - at all.

One of my faves though, is 'Phenomena'; the 1984 Dario Argento film with Jennifer Connelly as the title character. It's a ****ing strange movie, but it instantly struck a chord with me the first time I saw it, so I bought the 30th anniversary release with the original poster art & other stuff like a booklet & giant poster.

That said, I'm no horror fan really.

Amazing Spiderman 2 = 5/10 for the whole movie..... 8/10 for the last 30 minutes. shame really.

Divergent = 3/10 waist of time and can't believe there will be another one.

waist of time
