I loved Death Proof. Easily my favorite Tarantino film followed by Basterds.

I don't care if the characters are likeable or not, just watching them interact with one another is very entertaining. That's what Tarantino does best. He could make the most boring and uninteresting characters have a conversation that you can't take your eyes away from.

Agreed!

The dialogue felt so natural and very realistic. I also love the vintage look of the first half, then the modern look for the second half. The main cast were great and this was the best I've ever seen Kurt Russell act. Stunt Man Mike is one of my favorite characters of all time.

Evil Dead (2013). 6/10.

A good film that I quite enjoyed, for the most part. I'm not into excessive gore with things like SAW, Hostel, Wolf Creek & the like but having seen the original Evil Dead I was at least prepared for this films bloodletting. But it was still a bit overboard, at times.

The ending came as a big surprise. I did not expect the Ash style character to suddenly sacrifice his own life for his sisters. That kind of blew me away. & although it was cool that the films 'big bad' (thanks, Buffy) made an appearance at the end I can't help but think that they could've given us something a little bit better that what we actually got. I thought that it was pretty lame. However, I did like the death it got as it seemed very fitting with the overall tone of the film.

& I'm so glad that I sat through the credits because it was a fantastic surprise to see Bruce Campbell grace the remake with his illustrious presence after the credits had finished rolling. Groovy, indeed, good sir.

It was very generic and cookie-cutter, but that doesn't mean it can't be an excellently made film, which it was IMO.

Giant Junkyard Shrek Hulks (TMNT 2014) -- 4.75 / 10

Ehh.. I didn't hate it. They got the turtles' personalities right at least. The CGI & mo-cap was pretty good for the most part. Splinter was alright actually. Megan Fox was just herself.. in a yellow jacket. 'Shredder' was more like a Shogun transformer or something. I didn't like the story, or the connection between Sacks, Oneil & Shredder. Lots of wtf stuff in general, & the turtle designs are still as ugly & jarring as sin.

The 1990 film still reigns.

Foxcatcher - 8/10

Quite a bleak movie, even in the parts that are supposed to happier. Overall a good movie, and Steve Carell was completely unrecognisable as du Pont.

Thank you for smoking - 8/10

Great performances by Aaron Eckhart, and William H. Macy. Rob Lowe was creepy as hell :lol. Made me want to take up smoking :lecture.

Book of Life 9/10

Such a fun and fantastic film!

Glad you liked it! I bought it for my daughter and while I still think the movie is great, on my second viewing it felt like it moved too fast, like the pace was too frenetic and tried to throw too many jokes out at every opportunity. Had they slowed it down a little, to let some of the great moments speak for themselves, it would have been one of the best animated films in years.

Still, that being said, I really enjoyed this movie and it is beautiful to look at with a look all it's own.

Oh yeah! I noticed that myself!

This was the second time viewing it, my nieces really love those films but all my Disney films are in sealed condition (for personal reasons), so I had bought them Wreck It Ralph, Frozen, and Nightmare Before Christmas; yet you can only see those for so many viewings. I bought this hoping that they'd get a kick out of it, and everyone loves it.

Some jokes are definitely forced, but overall I enjoyed everything, it's your classic Mexican story, with a pop culture vibe to it. Wouldn't surprise me to hear my nieces ask to see it again today. :lol
