Whaa? Really? That's gutting. So do any of the subsequent movies are as good? I'll be moving on to Ep I-III later before finally watching VII. I remember falling asleep at Ep II.. :lol

ROTJ I'd say it still better than most of what you'd see in the PT... but that's it's own heated debate around these parts. But I can say pretty confidently that Episode II is the absolute worst of the entire series. ROTJ fits well with ANH, but it's so contrived to get all the pieces in place to link it to it.

What's "PT" and how about VII? Sorry, all these are new to me. :lol

The PT is tough to get through. I watched all the Star Wars films a month or so ago and was mad at myself for making me sit through the entire PT. My wife wouldn't do it. She'll watch IV-VI but won't subject herself to I-III ever again.

ROTJ and TPM are pretty much the same flick.

ANH and TFA are as well.

AOTC is cheese but end battle is neat.

ROTS is my favorite of the SW flicks.

Wow. You just intimidated me. Would alcohol help? :lol

After ROTJ just skip the prequels and go right into The Force Awakens. Just keep in mind that TFA takes place 30 years after Jedi or you may be a bit lost trying to piece together the passage of time from the film itself until about a third of the way through the movie when it finally becomes clear.

I did watched the PT many many years back and remember being bored to tears with it, especially Episode II. If I recall, there was just too much sci-fi politics bullcrap that flew over my head. I think the only thing I remember vividly from PT was the Obi Wan/Anakin fight from III, I remember liking that quite a bit.

I saw one when it was rereleased in theatres a few years ago and every single person I was with fell asleep. I woke up to that atrocious ending of someone getting married or something or some ceremony? I just remember it was a really bad ending with not enough darth maul.

Each film has something in it that I like (like Darth Maul or the final battle in ROTS)--just not enough there to make me like the films.

Black Mama / White Mama -- 6.5 / 10

Classic Pam Grier, so that alone is pretty sweet. Movie itself is about what you'd expect from a low budget 70s cult movie, but it's entertaining nonetheless - & I'm a huge fan of 70s cinema anyway.

ERASERHEAD -- ??? / 10

Jeez.. :lol I really should've seen this film by now, but it was my first viewing the other night & although I usually relish quirky / arty films like this, it was literally painful to sit through to be brutally honest. I can appreciate all the history behind it being Lynch's first feature (the included lengthy interview with him was more interesting), but yeah. I liked some of the ideas / visuals, but overall I found it a grind.

Sixteen Candles - 8/10 Great 80's flick. For some reason it was a lot funnier than I remembered having been a while since I watched it. Anthony Michael Hall is hilarious in this one.

interesting Ive had the criterion collection Eraserhead for quite some time but Ive been waiting to be in the exact mood to watch it. I also wanted to dive deeper into movies before going that bizarre. I've seen most of his movies and love them to death, still not ready to put the disc in though. I've been thinking about watching Lost Highway. I think Ill give that a go before Eraserhead.

Good way to put it - I wanted to be in the mood to watch it too, because I've owned my copy for a while as well. I won't spoil it for anyone interested, but it's definitely a slow burn. The film allows you to interpret the events in your own way which is cool, & there's a lot of symbolism & imagery that gets you thinking, but it's also defintely an acquired taste. :lol

I turned it on one night, after what seemed an impossibly long scene involving some kind of crying-lizard baby, I couldn't take anymore and turned the channel.

:lol :lol

Yep, it's a damn strange movie. Calling the movie 'weird' is an understatement, but it's also kind of selling it short actually. It's still an incredibly creative piece of work, & I'm sure the fans out there will crucify us for criticizing it.
