The last timei enjoyed a Spielberg's movie was last night when i watched jurassic park lol

I really did not care for that one. :lol
But I really like "The Terminal". Such an oddball, I know.

I liked The Terminal, but I haven't seen it since it came out, so all I remember is Tom Hanks stuck in an airport, eating McDonalds, and buying a Hugo Boss suit for $150. There was some kind of romance in there too...I think.

$53 million opening in the US, global debut stats below from a box office analyst, looks like this will be a big hit worldwide. I think it pretty much made its entire production budget back already.

"Massive $61.7M opening wknd for #ReadyPlayerOne in China - biggest ever for WB there. $128M total intl opening wknd putting global debut at huge $181.2M. Germany and Japan still to open. $500-600M worldwide run possible."

edit: (wasn't sure if I could post links to twitter, the analyst is @GiteshPandya)

Yowza 180mil WW opening? No way was I expecting that for this film.. that puts it right up there with all the CB movies and such.. and on the higher end.

Still all the goodwill in this thread has my curiousity piqued... I wasn’t planning on it but I may just have to check this out!

I had no expectations nor did I have any real desire to see the movie up until I heard the good reviews from people on this thread. I think that's how it's going to work for the rest of the country, it might have a bigger second weekend than the first.

My niece and her boyfriend were talking about it atEaster Dinner today, they loved the movie as well, both plan on seeing it a second time.

Another Jumanji 2?

Yup, thinking that too. Loved this movie and hope it does well. Best since JP for sure for Spielberg. I enjoyed Lost World too but nothing since then really IMO comes close to this.

I liked War of the Worlds (at least the first half) but it was a bit of a mess and not true Spielberg (although it had some great camera work).

I loved Minority Report -- mostly for the amazing tech predications (besides the weird pool people and the wood balls).

But both of those are in Steven's "dark" period... like A.I. He went thru this weird stage - dark tones.

Ready Player One feels like an old Spielberg movie -- like he reconnected with that sentimental magic he once had.

Is Minority Report the film that started Spielberg's obsession with blue/grey colors, the white lights, and dull visuals?

Same here lol, means a lot more to me than "real" critics featured on Rotten Tomatoes.

I saw this again tonight and liked it a lot more.

Mechagodzilla! :rock

I don't really care for Gundam but it was very exciting to see MG vs Gund fight.
Tho it should've been a longer scene. At least 30 seconds longer.

That was definitely my favorite scene, along with the race. I got sad when he started shrinking back into a normal avatar. :lol

A bit off-topic, but did you ever see the new Pacific Rim?

Nope, I did not. The spoilers I've read told me not to. :lol

I got sad when he started shrinking back into a normal avatar. lol
It was redeemed by the fact that it was related to game's mechanic, and...

... by cyber-samurai givin' a middle finger to Mechagodzilla. :lol
