Creepy as ____, not the same ballpark as action figures even remotely. These are life size random stranger's babies with realistic skin and parts, not little action and super heros from movies. And to make it worse the eyes are black on most of them, they look like they are dead and possessed by demons.

I've always found life sized stuff creepy but I can dig it if its like a mask or Iron Man helmet, or a Terminaor, or the bust isn't a real person, with skin exposed, and realistic eyes, thats just too creepy to me. This is above and beyond even that and looks like something you'd stock a haunted house with to terrify passing customers.

Creepy.

If HT made these I would still pass on them.

Do people really collect that kind of stuff? That's just too creepy and disturbing.

I think its meant to be for those who cant have children, but with so many orphans needing home its disgusting on a whole 'nother level

Or it is just a hobby, which some women take to an unusual level of role-play (which may or may not be healthy). When I read a piece on these dolls, the woman profiled had children of her own who were grown, so there goes your theory.

Way to pass even further judgement. By your 'reasoning', are you "disgusting" for spending money on collectibles instead of giving to those same orphans or another worthy cause?

I don't imagine that people who can't have children would be the main target market - I think these are just uber-realistic baby dolls and loads of chicks dig that stuff. The 'creepy' comments being bandied around this thread by a bunch of dollie collectors and a couple of manly polystone collectors smacks of elitist, self-validating nerd-denial.

Yeh, you keep telling yourself that :wink1:

I will indeed. At least until I have a life size silicone sex doll with real skin and eyes of Robert Downey Jr. that I put in it's own bed.

What about serial killers who collect dead bodies, do you group yourself in with them as well? They are collectors afterall, they just like Human teeth and organs. How about the guy that collects his scabs?

The good news here is I was an orphan, so if you feel bad give your money to me and I'll spend it. :D

I don't group myself in with anybody. I just prefer not to pass judgement on others who are indulging in a hobby that harms nobody. Drawing comparisons between the collecting of life-like baby dolls and serial killers... uh, well, bye bye credibility :wave

Why can't people have an opinion on what is, in their own eyes, creepy? :dunno There are plenty of collectibles on this site that I find creepy, and that is just the way I view it. The people who collect these dolls are just a different niche of collecting that don't find it creepy, but most in this thread do and express there opinion of it. However, I don't think we should be insulting them for it.

I watched this reality show once that showed a couple of different women who had these. The one I remember was one of the women had lost a son in previous years. She got one of the lifelike dolls and she treated it as her son. Her husband didn't love the idea but dealt with it. She had it created to look like her son at I believe 4 months old. She would change it and carry it around, take it in the car with her, take it shopping. Just like you would with a real baby.

On the outside she seemed extremely normal. Except for the fact that she had a doll as her baby. I think the artists of the dolls do a good job sometimes. But because I have seen people take them too far, I am somewhat turned off. I wont judge them, I have no idea what it's like to be them. But this particular hobby is not for me.

I do have a couple of A___on Drake dolls that I had got years ago. Although I have no idea where one of them is...doesn't phase me though. Never think about em.

I'm not passing judgement on the people who collect the dolls, but the the actual dolls do creep me out, mostly because they look like dead babies. That's probably to the credit of the manufacturers, because the babies really are very realistic.
I know lots of people find my collection and my collecting habit creepy as well and can probably draw a line between a grown up man and his wife collecting toys and statues of sinister characters and other, much more anti-social behaviors though.

Did i offend you somehow?

I Only mentioned it because i read something in a Newspaper about dolls like these, women and probably men have them and have a room for them and clothes and everything, it fills a maternal/paternal need or something. And i said i find that disgusting as that need can be filled by adopting a child who is also in need of love and attention.

Hardly comparable to collecting figures and statues instead of adopting a needy child.
