I surprised my rents with one this year. I'm taking the 47 LG with me to school and had to get them a replacement. I love the 240hz. Everyone else hates it but I think it looks cool as hell. Pixar movies look absolutely amazing, I watched Monster's Inc. last night on the new one and you could see and probably count each individual hair on sully.:lol

Yes The 120hz.......240Hz......Motion Flow...etc.... People tend to not like it because it "Looks Like Video"...But Got Use To it and now I REALLY Enjoy It, Specially with The CGI Animated Movies..& SciFi Movies It Looks Killer.......:wink1:

awkward.....
Meh. If he needs to justify his purchase let him. The off angle viewing on the LEDs is unforgiving, and definitely not worth the fetching prices. Until Samsung can clear that and the color bleeding issues up I'm staying away from them.

Yes I like the 240hz tvs as well. My friend has one, and we watched Star Trek on it a few months back and it looked really incredible.

Yeah, not a fan of the 240hz or smoothing, it's like watching dalies. Film is supposed to have grain in it, that's how we are supposed to see it, it's more forgiving.

No haven't see it yet, but now I'm curious.

Overall the movie looks great, but in the beginning you can see where they went overboard with DNR and Edge Enhancements. Dutch, Dillon, and General Phillips look like they have spray tans, and almost "glow" a little. It might not bother some people, but I've seen Predator so many times I can tell where everything was done. If you already have the first Blu Ray I wouldn't recommend doubling up on it, but if you don't own the first one definitely check it out.

They glow you say? I didn't know they were vampires, now I'm rooting for the Predator:lol

I'm sorry is the truth upsetting you?

~~Mods I say it's time to shut it down. Definitely run it's course.

Not Really.... It Is More The Negativity that You Are Projecting.....:dunno...... But It's all Good.... I Will Continue My Happy Road :)...... It's all Good....

It's not negativity it's the truth. If you're not willing to accept that not everyone is going to agree with you that's your prerogative. Go pout in the corner if you have to.

Bumping because I am almost ready to exit the stone age (finally) and purchase an HD.

I'm going to go with LCD for a few reasons (I'd probably go LED but still a bit too much for me). I had read in a few places that Plasma suffers a bit at high altitudes, as well as in brighter lighting? If that is the case, my TV would be in both those situations.

So, a 46-50" LCD it is. I'm looking at a 120hz, since it seems to be nicely in the middle. Price would ideally be in the $800-$1100 range.

The (sort of) downside is that I'm locked into buying it from Best Buy. I've been buying gift cards for a while, since that's the best way for me to save up (otherwise I blow my money before I can get it to add up to enough for a TV). So if Amazon, Buy, or something have an awesome deal, that doesn't help. It would also have to be a model/company BB carries.

So, after that unnecessarily long explanation, suggestions on the best TVs that fit this criteria?

I'm not trying to be mean but there has been thread after thread about this. Why not read those? :dunno

I will add this. Everyone sees things different. So a TV purchase is actually very personal. Pick out what looks good to you and go with it. ____ the reviews. Think for yourself and trust your god given eyes.
