First, my GameCrazy (where I pre-ordered this) will not be getting this game after all since they are closing in a few months. I'm so glad I called them - I would have been hella pissed if I went in on Tuesday and found out they didn't have it. Now I got to pre-order it somewhere else.

Second, the RDR tee I ordered got canceled because they don't have my size and I don't want a large.

I personally think this game is gonna be all kinds of awesome. How can a GTA type open world game based in the old west not be?

No doubt, the concept seems great and the production team has a great track record, but you never know. . .I've seen the videos, but not reviews. Guess I'll back-track a bit. Thanks for the response.

I only really became aware of this game when I saw commercials on TV.

I only really became aware of this game when I saw commercials on TV.

I've been following it since it was first announced and even then I had no doubt this would rock. I read something earlier today, just a few pages back where some guy said he had played it for 6 hours and barely even touched any of the main missions. Their is so much to do in this game: hunt, gamble, search for treasure, kill people, save people, you name it. This is gonna be an awesome experience that the player is gonna be fully immersed in I think.

And honestly, you shouldn't base your game buying decision solely based on review; they are so subjective. I've LOVED games that have been give 50/100 and HATED games that have gotten 90/100 :huh

I read in the description of this game in some webshop that the soundtrack is a digital download as well. Not sure how reliable this info is though... it would be pretty lame though if all the extras will be downloadable content and a steelbook or whatever version of the game instead of a nice box with an extra disc.

I gotta feeling its a game that we will be playing for a long while with all that stuff plus the MP. Gonna be a fun ride no doubt.

Well, here's the thing.

Yes, reviews are subjective, but what else are you gonna go on? Intuition? Promotional videos? Price? I don't have the resources to buy any game that I think I might like. I've got to make choices, just like I do with collectibles. Each of us has a certain "equation" we run in our mind to determine if we want to buy a game--license, type of game, track record, multi-player options, etc. etc. But it is always a crap-shoot. Even if you rent first, you might not have a chance to play a game enough to know if you will really enjoy it or not in the long-run.

So, what purpose do reviews serve? They give you information, and help you to make a decision in an environment of imperfect information. Just like seeing movies, if the vast majority of people love something, there is a fair chance that I am gonna like it to. If most people hate it, I probably won't like it either. There is always a chance that this won't be the case. But for me (who plays through 2-3 video games a year at most), I'm not usually gonna buy unless I know that it is a very safe bet. If all the sites give this one a 9/10, then I'll go for it. If lots of sites are disappointed and give it a 5/10, I probably won't.

The only reason I'm paying much attention at all to this is that I love me some Westerns and GTA (though I have and have yet to play through the previous 2 installments
