Has anyone been able to kill a cougar with a knife? I just tried and it outright killed me, nothing I could do. Do I have to shoot it first so I only have to stab it once? I am still trying to find a cougar since that last time...

I got a cougar, or is it a mountain lion? Or is that the same thing? Anyway, I got one in the area close to the Hanging Rock. He jumped at me and I was on my War Horse. I had to shoot him twice with a rifle to bring him down. I skinned him, and got his pelt, and a cougar claw too. It got some good cash at the general store in Armadillo for me. :)

Those cougars are tough - two swipes and you are pretty much dead. I found some down by Plainview - was able to get one with my knife...but I sure had to keep moving around and dodging it.

I found and broke a Hungarian Halfbreed...was riding around on him and then saw a pack of wolves - so got off to kill them with my knife and afterwards my horse was gone. Rode around for awhile to try and find another one...but no luck. So I bought the deed for it.....damn $750 it cost me...but it sure is a pretty and fast horse.

The Hungarian half-breed? I haven't tried to get that horse...yet. I have the money now. I just love the War Horse SO much! Right now to me, he's the perfect horse (at least for me) in the game! :)

If that cougar is that tough, I wonder how hard it will be to take down a grizzly bear! :horror I guess you would at least need the Buffalo gun for him?! :dunno I haven't come across the bear yet.

As for the problem with my "missing lasso" rope. I guess I will have to start the game over, and save the new game as a second save file. Once I get done with the roping wild horses mission with Bonnie McFarlane I'll be totally SURE that I actually have the lasso in my inventory. I really don't understand why it's not in my satchel inventory now. I completed the mission. I never sold the lasso. It's just not there at all.

I don't think my rope is in my satchel. When you hit LB to bring up your weapons it's there in the 9 o'clock position. :dunno

The Hungarian Halfbreed is sweet! A pretty white horse - going to try and break the black one too so I can get the achievement. Didn't get the warhorse bonus - so I gotta make due with what they have in the game.

I don't think you can get to the bears until part 3. Looking at the map, the bear locations are in an area I can't reach yet. Yeah, those bastards are going to be tough. I'm also on the lookout for wild boars...but no luck yet. I see them on the map in the part 3 area as well...hope I don't have to wait that long to find one though. I'm just now starting Part 2 of the game in Mexico. Those banditos are tough. :lol

I whistled for my Warhorse today only to find him not coming towards me. I went over to the Icon to find out what was wrong, only to find him stuck inside the movie theater. :lol

Yeah same thing and I asked because it's a requirement for one of the Master Hunter Challenges so it would not do me any good if I shot it. :p

I'll just keep trying I guess, though I don't think I will be able to do it lol...

Use some bait on the ground in the place on the map that shows the Mountain Lion. You should be able to get the jump on him.
It worked for me on the wild Boars

I just bought this game yesterday, after much pondering between Red Dead and Alan Wake. I was a big Silent Hill fan, but loved the Elder Scrolls Oblivion as well, as least until I maxed out my stats and could kill anything without effort.

It's probably because you don't have the superior PS3 version. I got two lasso's... One was Golden.:wink1:

No idea that is strange.

Wow...another game that the 360 get the superior versions of. Looks like Rockstar got really lazy with this game and did a sub-HD port for the PS3. I find it baffling that many of the gamer forums have the PS3 fanboys trashing Alan Wake that was in development for 5 years, yet cannot get 720p out of the game despite the great visuals.

https://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=247104

"Red Dead Redemption sports the same sub-HD resolution as its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 4, on the PlayStation 3.

The lower resolution results in a slightly less sharp image compared to its Xbox 360 brother, it's been claimed.

The Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption has been confirmed to be 720p with 2x anti-aliasing, whereas the PlayStation 3 version has been pared down to approximately 640p. That's a 20 per cent lower rendering resolution.

Veteran Beyond 3D technical forum member Al_Strong today confirmed the PS3 game's vertical resolution to be 640 pixel's high, but struggled to pin down its horizontal resolution.

Infamous pixel-counter Quaz51 (he broke Halo 3's sub-HD resolution) confirmed this analysis, adding that he believes that Redemption's horizontal resolution is the same as Grand Theft Auto 4's. This puts the PS3 version of Red Dead Redemption at 640x1152; the equivalent of 644p.

That's not to say that the PS3 version of the game doesn't enjoy the same graphical upgrades to Rockstar's GTA4 engine as the Xbox 360 game. No matter the platform, it's still one of the best games of the year, so don't go on a rage campaign just yet.

Moreover, since we've yet to have official confirmation from Rockstar, it's just a rumour for now, and more importantly - who cares?"

~~The Lens of Truth also does a pic comparison to show how the 360 trumps the PS3 port. I've been playing the PS3 for a couple days now and it still looks really good to the eyes, but these pics really show the differences.

Did you see the wink emoticon?

Anyways GTA4 360 AND PS3 i don't care what anyone says PS3 is tons better. I have both consoles and both versions and the 360 is ridden with massive pop up, glitches, and slower loads. (being an ____ GTA fan i had to have the best so i had to compare)

Well you can replay the mission without restarting, but you should find the Rope when you hold the LB button down and the rope is at the left of the dial (It's don't think it ever appears in the select menu)
