Reliability of Pre Orders (Hot Toys)

I have been reading a bit on here, and some are mentioning the small runs on certain figures, and just how short the supply may be, or whether that is simply BS to help cause a panic in collectors and run up sales.

Being New to Hot Toys, this has left me with a slight bit of concern; If you place an order for a Hot Toys figure through Sideshow (in my case I pre-ordered the Iron man MK IV) are you guaranteed a figure, or do they not know what the edition size of the figure run will be, making it, first come, first served? How about through other sites like Alter Ego?

Has anybody ever placed a Pre-order for a Hot Toy's figure, only to not have it filled due to short supply?

Well, generally they are pretty on the ball about their supply. I personally have never been slighted by a figure. Honestly I wouldnt worry about it. I have ordered tons of stuff from AE and some from SS and I have always got them without fail.

Even in the event of an ebay seller you still have buyer protection via paypal and your cc company.

Besides small runs mean nothing especially in the case of the MK4/

A true small run would be the Disguise T-1000 and the SDCC Predator.

Thank you all for the reassuring posts. I look forward to my first HT figure. Now if I can only control myself over ordering some of their other figures. Tony Stark may be next, but I am getting condemning looks from my Wife every time I bring it up.

Wow Im glad I saw this because I always wondered the same thing. I also am new to Hot Toys and I pre-ordered my Berserker Predator kinda late and I thought I wasnt gonna get it and I even wrote Sideshow but they didnt tell me anything really. I wish I could see how many they usually make.

on a related note, does anyone know if for example once pre orders arrive, would sideshow get stock first or alter ego? or same time for both. i got pre orders through side show but alter ego has the same item but cheaper, if they get stock at same time im thinkin of jumpin to alter ego....

I would think that they get them around the same time but Sideshow has Black Widow and AE doesn't yet.
