Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

Your pics are great, Lawrence's preview in the ASM thread showed some of the issues with the suit. Otherwise, it looks like a really nice fig.

Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

the medicom SM looks good.

thank you. I do love it indeed.

Congrats for the new acquisition my friend ;)

Thank you sir. :hi5:

Cool pics mate. Congrats on the new addition.

Appreciate the feedback my friend. :)

Yup, and I'm really glad for his review and I agree with it completely. It is pretty much spot on.
He bought 2 and used one for the dynamic poses, and eventually, he had some flaws that started popping up due to the extreme poses. So I'm glad he was able to warn us about it.

I basically gave a mini review about it which basically say the same thing. My main issue is basically, its a static figure. Any dynamic pose and the wrinkles on the suit gets distracting. But when he's standing there, the suit hugs the body well.
I'm also thinking of doing a slight mod by cutting some of the excess sleeve which is the only wrinkle that you can see on the figure the way I have him posed right now, which hopefully may be able to futz some of the wrinkle in the arms. Take away any wrinkles on the suit and the figure looks very much like the movie counterpart.
Main thing is, to reiterate what Lawrence said, basically, its a ..."aesthetically pleasing figure".
Its just very cool looking figure and nice to look at.
I had the HT spiderman 3 and I like this figure much much more.

Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

I'm only a few pages into this thread but your collection is beautiful.
Every piece is very iconic, either the incarnation or the pose itself. And the lighting you use seems to push them up from toy-collectible to a prized display in your home.

I need to start checking estate sales for presentation cases like these hehe. Thanks for sharing your shelves with us :)

Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

I've had this guy for awhile now, but never posted it cause at first, I was just extremely disappointed with it.
This is probably my most, biggest turnaround in how I felt about a figure. Initially, I wanted to cancel my order cause I wanted to do a Medix.
Since my dx02 was futzed and displayed well in the shelf, when I first received this figure, I was drawn to its flaws.
It was probably my biggest disappointment opening a Hot Toys.
I didnt care for any of the faceplates, So that was already a big downer since that's the head is the focal point.
The other thing was the legs, mainly the small ankles enhancing the thunder thighs. I cant stand the boots.

Thankfully, the mods dramatically changes most of the problems. The biggest thing is...and I cant stress enough, Robbie's faceplate.
If you have a dx12...HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend his faceplate. It dramatically changes the cowl. That combined with painting the eyes, the difference is night and day. I also prefer the skin tone on Robbie's faceplate, its lighter flesh color gives a cowl and faceplate a better constrast like in the movie, and it also already sinks in which looks more natural. This is a mandatory mod in my opinion.

The other mod that I did that fixes another big issue is switching the boots to Batman Begins/Bruce Wayne Boots. I sprayed it with gloss since it was a little matted for my taste. The boots were a little loose so I stuck a very small foam at the calves to tighten the boots a bit so it'll hug the legs better, it fixed the 2nd biggest gripe on the figure. I tried doing the mods of putting electrical tape at the ankle, but no matter how I tried, it just looks weird to me. I dont know if its just me, but it looks like a fat woman's legs with no ankles. unmodded, the ankles looks too skinny.
The Boots switch...for me is a drastic change cause it looks more natural. It also seem to give him a slight height adjustment, he looks like .5" taller and it makes the legs proportinate that the thighs doesnt bother me anymore.

The other mods that I've done is putting electrical tape in the neck shoulder area so now the neck looks more natural.
Heated and reshaped the shoulder plates and stuck them in the freezer. :lol
I cut the gloves and did the gauntlet mod.
I also used the batarang from my 1/4 EB batman. I just prefer it better than the smaller 1/6 version.
Lastly, I know HT supplied a surprisingly nice cape, but still, it falls short to a Lforigno cape. I like the deep dark of the velvet cape.
I also, slightly covered the LED lights in the detolf with some blue filter that gives a blue hue to the shelf, gives it the moody look.
Now, I'm sooo impressed and happy with this figure. :yess:

Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

Wow...that faceplate is a gigantic improvement! I have my order in with Robbie, but I'm pretty far down on the list. I'll have to oggle your pics in the meantime. :)

Oh man, its one of the best mods ever.
I was actually more excited in getting his faceplate than getting some of the figure I've gotten lately.
I was checking my mailbox everyday cause I was on the 1st shipment, but I didnt get mine til xmas eve, probably got delayed cause of the post office being busy. But I was ecstatic when I got it in the mail.

Man, it really looks like a different cowl.
And as I mentioned, the paint looks very proffessional and the color is better than the stock cause Robbie used a lighter flesh tones.
You're gonna love it man.

the batman look amazing

Thank ya. It needed lots of mods, but with all the mods, it went from my least favorite figure, to one of my favorite. :)

Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

Inspired by Marfmaster's yoda, I was able to snag this little guy on ebay. So I figured it would be a fun project to tackle.
When I first received this guy, I thought I might have bit off more than I could chew cause as a stock figure, he was very toyish. :thud:
The color was kinda flat, the eyes were very toyish with 2 big doll dots, and the clothes were very clean and bright...frankly, he looked like a cheap toy.
But thanks to SilentSurfer for laying down the template on how this figure can look along with Dane's sample on how the clothes would look weathered...I decided to tackle the project when I got stuck at home when it snowed here in good ol' Texas.

Underneath that medicom yoda is an amazing sculpt. Yoda is one of the most loveable character in the star wars mythos, cant help but smile every time I see the little guy in the shelf.
I'm pretty pleased on how this guy turned out. :)

Indeed man, its amazing what kind of difference modding the Medi Yoda does.
It was a lot of work though.
I spent many hours just weathering the clothes and giving it several tea treatments to give it the worn look.
But after lots of elbow grease, once he was put in the shelf, it was well worth it. :love

Thank you so much my friend.
Great minds think alike. lol. I placed Yoda there cause I figured he would go with the sci-fi shelf, once placed, I thought to myself..."my money's on the little guy". :lol

Great mod on the Bat and cool pics for him and Yoda.

Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

After a long break from the thread...
BAM....Just like that, back to back posting of figures. :lol

Got the Medi Spidey also.
Surprisingly, this is a very underrated figure, everyone is so focused on Hot Toys ignoring Medicom, but with what HT has shown, I prefer the Medicom.
I'm keeping my pre-order for Hot Toys just in case it is majorly tweaked, but if its close to their proto, then I'm cancelling HT and stick to Medicom.

Thank you. One of my favorite bash that I've done.

Happy to help friend. Love this figure. One of the few times Medi surprisingly releases a great product again. Just a cool figure to look at.

Its what I like about this board, when we can help inspire each other.
I'm looking forward to finishing my Jedi Luke that was inspired by your pics. Just bought the HT head last night. Just waiting for all the pieces to arrive.

Re: Remy's Hawt Toys!

Awesome collection Remy! So many nice pieces.

Your DX 12 looks awesome with Robbie's faceplate too, really makes a big difference to the sculpt. What kind of cape do you have on him? It looks exceptional.
