I put this in the Anakin picture thread, but I'll put it here as well.

I finally got some time to paint Darren Carnall's excellent resculpt of the Anakin head. It really saved the figure for me, since I had trouble seeing the likeness in the old sculpt. I'm very happy with my Anakin now. I think it rivals the upcoming PF in terms of likeness.

Very nice job! That head is a nice one to attack with paint! You did, and it shows! Great finish and look. I like your hair color too. His is a hard shade to paint.

I'm actually painting 6 of these at the moment, and it's always good to see others painted by different people! You've done a good job there, like Les said I like the lighter hair colour (though I might add some more wash shadows to make it a little darker in the parts where if it was real hair we'd be seeing into the hair. Also maybe one or two highlights just to bring out that great colour you've done...)

This is what I mean, if you added your own version of these shadows, it might give the hair even more depth.

But that's just me, feel free to ignore me :rotfl I'm sure like everything else in pictures it has more depth in person.

It's nice to see someone doing the hair lighter though, it often seems to be too dark when people paint it. (Even Sideshow!)

I'm glad you like the head...... makes me smile whenever i hear of someone enjoying it :rock I look forward to seeing more of your cool customs!

I think I prefer my way, although it's maybe a tad more stylized. Of course, my pictures aren't fully capturing what it looks like in person. I think it's the best paint job I've done so far. I can't stop looking at it here on my desk. :D

just looked at these pics again. He looks great on that stand there doesn't he! I'll have to dig mine out (I was gonna make the bottom of the droid to go underneath the stand... but it'll be years before I get to that probably lol)

Figure looks great though! You got the eyes nice and round, nice and even.

Yes, the base adds a lot to it. It's like I have my own miniature PF here in front of me. I wish they would make more of this kind of thing. Of course technically he should have Sith eyes if he's going to be on that base, but I prefer the pre-Sith Anakin.

I've always preferred the Tech Noir look for the T-800 in the original Terminator movie, so I'm glad that I was able to make my own figure of it. I started with the Hot Toys Battle Damaged T-800 figure. I replaced the head with one from Hero Heads.

The jacket is actually from the Sideshow Frank Black figure, although I have modified it quite a bit. The collar is turned up and I colored in the brown vinyl collar with a sharpie to make it black (it actually looks quite good this way). I stuffed some wadded up pieces of kleenex in his shirt and jacket to fill him out a bit since the body isn't quite muscular enough.

I cut some shapes out of fake leather and attached it to the back of the jacket, shoulders, and elbow with fabric glue. The hardest part was figuring out how to do the studs on the leather parts. In the end, I used a pin vise to drill small holes in the pleather and jacket and then inserted unbent paper clips into the hole and clipped them off using a toenail clipper. I used epoxy putty on the other side to make the paper clips stay in place. It was a lot of work, and it's not 100% movie accurate or anything, but I think it looks very nice. The chain on the shoulder is some aluminum chain I bought at a craft store. I believe it is for making jewelry. I got a whole huge spool of the stuff on sale.

The hands from the Hot Toys T-800 figure had battle damage on them, which isn't really appropriate for this look. He needs fingerless gloves, so I used the hands from a Hot Toys Drake figure.

phenomenal work icruise, you pulled off an amazing figure, easily one of the best Terminator customs out there.

I think its really cool that you went with the Tech-Noir guise rather than the more predictable police shoot-out version. The hero head sculpt is perfect, reallt captures the early T1 Arnie well and the modifications to the jacket are a great touch too, looks straight outta the movie to me. Looks like you have a very keen eye for detail which I love.

keep sharing your awesome work!!

That is awesome; my absolute fav version of any Terminator - always thought Schwarzenger looked meancing in that one and the look of this piece really shows that.

That Terminator looks , great - I wished HT did the Tech Noir outfit too but I guess they wanted to go with the battle-damaged look (which only happens later in the film) otherwise the Tech Noir fig would have been just a generic Arnie fig.

Your fig would look great next to Les's 1984 Kyle in a diorama!! And so would your Bishop with the Power Loader and Queen when she comes out (and a custom Newt!).

Love what you did to the Cantina band too with the music box - very inventive. It makes it slightly more than just a display and more fun....now it looks AND sounds like the band!!

Looks great man... really nicely done. I think the only thing that could really help with the realism is adding a bit of wear to the outfit. Remember he stole the clothes of a dirty mid-80's punk... I don't think they'd look quite so clean.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Of course I'm not the first to do a Tech Noir figure. Pjam has an amazing version that has a working laser sight, for example. But I don't think anyone has used the same components or methods as I did.

Yes, I think they chose that look mostly so they wouldn't have to pay Arnie anything for using his likeness (the BD T-800 looks nothing like him at all).

I've actually got my own 1984 Reese mostly finished, but I have some work yet to do on the outfit and I have to repaint the head. I'm sure it won't come close to Les' work, of course.

That's a good point. I'll have to look at the movie again. I don't think the outfit was super weathered or anything, but I agree that it should look a little more "lived in."

Yeah, not beat to crap, but with some wear and staining. Just a bit roughed up I think would add a lot to a great looking figure! I have a '84 Reese from DA, and I'd love to get a Tech Noir Terminator to battle against him.

Actually thinking of trying my hand at one.
