amazingly well done custom , will you be changing the shirt/vest underneath.

At the moment, I'm just using the shirt that came with the Hot Toys BD T-800 figure (although turned backwards, because it has bullet holes and blood in the front). I might look into finding something a little more accurate when I get the time, although it might actually be a little visually distracting to have too much on his shirt.

Here's my Deckard from Blade Runner. I posted this in the Deckard thread in the General Movies forum, but I thought I'd add it here as well.

I got my Android Hunter a couple of days ago, so I tried putting the new Frontline (H2creative) Deckard head on him. I must say, I really think this is an excellent sculpt -- a big improvement over the previous one.

The Android Hunter itself isn't bad, although even at the $80 I paid I feel it's way overpriced. But of course it's a relatively rare figure, so that can't be helped. The outfit is pretty well done, and the gun is great (although it being made of metal actually may be a disadvantage since it's almost too heavy for the figure to hold properly). The body that they used (apparently a Dragon body) is OK, but not great. The arms have an odd ratcheting effect when you move them up and down and he has more of a barrel chest than I would like. I think I will try putting this head and clothing on a different body when I get the chance. Anyway, unless Shawn from Sovereign Studios manages to blow me away with what he is doing, I think I'll be passing on his Deckard. I'm pretty satisfied with this one, although I do have some tweaking yet to do (tape on his hand, etc.)

Great update of the android bunter icruise, the new head is a real plus.
Got to agree with that gun, it too damn heavy i can't pose mine that good with it. Im in the process of doing my own, ive been thinking of cutting off the chest as it sticks out too much

Excellent Deckard, really nice paint job on the head sculpt. Just watched this movie yesterday.

I have my Phantom Menace Obi-wan finished except for a couple of pieces of his outfit that are yet to arrive, so I can't show that just yet. So I thought I'd start with Qui-gon Jinn. I sculpted some extra hair using epoxy putty (since it retains some flexibility after curing). I also filled in the rather prominent gap between the top hair piece and his forehead with a bit of putty.

Qui-gon is a nice figure, but if Sideshow had just added some hair extensions and gotten rid of that gap, it would have been a home run. The outfit and sculpt are top notch.

Here is my Phantom Menace Obi-wan custom. I used the head sculpted by Sunoch and put it on a Dragon body that is a bit shorter than the normal Sideshow body, and I also cut off his feet so I could get the legs further in his boots, making him even shorter. As you can see in the pic with Qui-gon, they are about the right height now.

I didn't like the long braid that Sunoch included with the head sculpt, since it was kind of like a gummy worm and the casting was very messy, so I made my own braid by twisting two long pieces of epoxy putty together. The outfit is a combination of the white pieces of Qui-gon and Mace Windu's outfits. I don't have good boots at the moment though, so I'm using Mace's. I also need to figure out some way to make an accurate lightsaber (I'm currently using ROTS Obi-wan's saber).

I've been busy with work and also went to Japan for a while, so I haven't had much time for painting or customizing, but I did get inspired by the release of Frodo and Sam for the Lord of the Rings line. I decided to make "Crack of Doom" versions representing how they look at the very end of their journey. I've already posted some shots of these in the main "Sam and Frodo" thread, but I thought I'd put the finished products here. For Frodo, I added a few minor wounds and some lip cracks with epoxy putty, but for Sam I just cut directly into the skin of the figure with an x-acto knife, and I think that may actually have worked better. The hobbit hair piece is actually two pieces -- one for the front that hangs over the forehead, and one for the back. So I removed the front piece and repainted the face. That allowed me to avoid having to repaint the hair, except for a few touchups. I also put a little gloss cote on their faces to make it look like they were sweating.

As for the outfits, these are the base outfits that come with the figures, although I sewed on the suspenders. I also dyed the shirts with a little diluted black dye to make them look worn, and then used a nail file/fingernail clipper to weather the clothes. I also gave Sam a little padding around the tum. Finally, I cut off Frodo's index finger and bloodied up his hand a bit. I also have an intact hand that I can swap out if I want to have him dangling the ring before Gollum attacks him.

the hobbits look great icruise........& yea the bitten off finger just pushes it over the top. maybe one day they will make a gollum to put with these.

boy some very nice repaints there....great stuff.....the art of weathering is something i haven't attempted yet but you have it off to perfection.

He's a base I made for the new 18" NECA Alien figure (it's 18" scale, not 18" tall, so it's closer to 22" tall). It's an amazing figure and a fantastic value for around $40, but it had a tendency to fall over in some situations, plus I thought that adding a base would help it esthetically as well.

I thought the most logical base would be some kind of metal grating like you might see on the spaceship Nostromo. The base is a 12" by 12" square of wood that I got by going down to a do-it-yourself center, picking out a board and asking them to cut it for me (as a result I have 3 more identical squares that I may use for other bases). I just sanded it down a bit because the edges were rough from being cut. The grating is made of lots of strips of pre-cut basswood that you can buy at hobby shops. I spray painted everything black, then used a combination of silver and black paint (and black washes) to paint the metal parts. Finally, I gave it a gloss coating to make it look sort of wet. It's hard to get a good picture of it, but you get the idea. The NECA figure already has holes in its feet, so I drilled a couple of holes in the base and put metal rods in them to support the figure.

Cool. The base turned out really well. Thats a good idea using the thin strips of wood, never really thought of that. That sort of technique would work well for a Star Wars Carbo chamber base too. Great work!

Icruise, You are a genius... very nice repaints and the base for the alien is not only great looking it was very creative on how you came up with the design... Thanks for sharing!
