So I saw this last week in the same day I saw machete. I got in for free and I got a refill on my large popcorn and soda.
I had a good time watching this movie. I wasn't clear about what was going on with that japanese zombie chick...however, I was psyched that the beginning of the movie was pretty much just gun fire and very little dialog to go with all that ridiculous clone attack ____.
The problem with that was that it starts off really fast and crazy and then in this movie more than any other in the franchise they take their precious time setting ____ up. Which I didn't dislike...I hated the quick cutshort scenes and score in the third movie..but still miles better then the 2nd movie, and a definite improvement from the last one.
Wesker was definitely pretty stupid all the way through, I wish they got val kilmer instead.
All that crazy matrix-y ____ and the axeman didn't seem out of place. Having really no expectations about them making the video games tastefully cited throughout, I expected these things. Wesker is a hi tech evil dude with a monopoly of resources from a former powerhouse, and now the only business in the surviving world.
In this world, of course he can do whatever movie magic will allow him, especially being indestructible and creating a race of new monsters. think about it zombie-licker-nemesis-superzombies-tyrant. now john carpenters thing inspired re4+5 monsters. normal alice-superalice-evenmoresuperalice-clone alice-superman mutant wesker. ____ makes sense to me.
I think this movie was much more fun and easier to watch then the last ones...it flowed better and I thought it had some fun things in it. the superhive HQ, the plane, the prison, the claustrophobic tunnels, the ship.
The problem is escalation, these movies can't get less ridiculous..they have to turn it up every time. So I think that alone is the biggest issue.
Had a better time then I did watching machete. I'm a big Rodriguez fan. After the first scene I felt like it was like a bad movie in the way that bad movies are=the trailer is better then the movie. Maybe I was just expecting something as wild and fun as planet terror and that's why I was disappointed. But It was also pretty fun.
