Agreed.

To be honest, I never liked RE1. I couldn't get into it. I played it at a friend's house or during a school party once, can't really recall which, and it was pretty damn meh. Now, before any other RE fans presume to burn me at the stake, let me explain, lol. When I played RE1, it was in late '98, so it had been out a while. I was, at the time, a pc gamer that had switched from consoles, but was making attempts at trying to re-enter the format. I'm sure I wasn't the only one that wasn't impressed by Resident Evil, visually or otherwise.

So, after that I never bothered with 2 or 3, but it was mostly because I didn't own a PS1 anyway. However, when I got the Dreamcast shortly after it was released... two very prominent and fantastic games hit the console; Shenmue and Code Veronica. I bought Shenmue asap, later that year, no questions asked, although Blue Stinger was one of the only games I had on the system for the longest time.

Anyway, Code Veronica was released at some point and one day my dad happened to have been browsing the game section of the rental store, which, frankly, I was surprised by that in and of itself. So, he comes home with a fresh, new copy, one of the few left, if I had to wager a guess. I was like, "okay... this looks kinda cool actually." Popped it in and pretty much played the hell out of it. I got roughly a third of the way through before I had to take it back, but then immediately took my money and bought my own copy. It took a while to finish the game, as I was technically still a newb at survival horror games.

However, it didn't end there. In the following months, Christmas came around and I got quite a few Dreamcast games, likely as part of a sale. The PS2 had been announced and Sega was ****ting bricks at that point, as were various merchants. I skipped RE2 and went straight to RE3 after I read the back. It trumped Code Veronica, which I still think is one of the better games. I did finish both scenarios of RE2 though, but neither lived up to RE:CV or RE3, personally.

Then, the Gamecube was released sometime later. It took me a while to get up the nerve to take a chance on it. However, it was well worth the risk, because I got to play both the REmake and RE0 simultaneously, with no delay. And I must say... the REmake blows the t-total hell out of the original Resident Evil 1, I don't care what anyone says. I even played the Director's Cut on a friend's playstation for ****s and giggles one weekend. There's no comparison, other than nostalgia perhaps.

So, this fan may have jumped on board a little later than other fans, but he does at least like RE1 in some shape or form, lol.

Im an RE Nazi but to be frank. I did only get about half into re 1 when it first came out. I did bum the hell out of re 2 though. Re 3 i didnt get far into at all, about 1:4. I never touched the franchise until RE5 had been out for a year. Then i went back and did 1, remake,0 , 3, code veronica & 4 (just recently the hd chronicles). Now im in <3

Code Veronica being my fave, re 5 being my funnest & re 2 being my most sentimental!

I didn't become a fan until like spring of 2000 or possibly summer. Then I got the other games on the system and was hooked. It was only natural I would try and get a Gamecube at some point. And yet, even before the REmake, I avoided RE1 like the ****ing plague, lol.

Re1 is teh awesome!

But of course im from Europe so we didnt get the messed up, control altered, soundtrack ****ed up and 100mph running US version. Though i do own it. Remake is the king when it comes to the first game. But Re: DC (Eu version) does have its place

Agreed.

Wow, you managed the rare feat of playing the entire series (at the time) completely backwards :lol

As much as I loved Code Veronica, and it may have been the game that got me into the franchise... Jill is the reason I keep playing. :lol

It's about time she got a playable role again too, besides DLC or whatever.

Same, it keeps looking better each time. I hope RE6 has great replay value like Dark Souls did. New weapons/costumes even after 10 playthroughs on professional please !

Lets be honest, the PS1 graphics in 1996 were pretty poor XD Anyway, as a RE fan you should know that all the furniture was placed in the Star Crest/Picture puzzle room, I mean, Umbrella funding was pretty short after all the money on BOWS, so naturally they had to take all pictures in the mansion and make a single room with switches underneath for the most weirdest way of getting a Crest, as opposed to just like, locking.

Infact, if everyone died, how did all the keys and crests get hidden anyway!

But yeah, REmake luckily had the Gamecube which had better graphic capabilities so they decided to give Umbrella the budget to decorate spencer mansion, and even expand the grounds :rotfl

And IMO, it goes REmake,RE3,Zero,RE2,CV. I didnt rate RE2 as that superb. Loved it, but felt RE3 was miles better in gameplay and story, and I prefered Zero's atmosphere. But its unfair really to compare non PS1 RE's, so in actual fact its RE3/RE2/RE1/RE survivor, then REmake/Zero/Outbreak 2/Outbreak 1/CV/Dead Aim/Gun survivor CVX

I read on ign it means the game is finished and ready for October I also read the demo is out on sept 4th but idk how true that is.
