Agreed.Jesus. After playing Remake for the last few times once you play the original its like, who the **** came in and stole all the furniture?! Wheres all the pictures?! Wheres the carpets?! Wallpaper where are you ?!?!
Agreed.
To be honest, I never liked RE1. I couldn't get into it. I played it at a friend's house or during a school party once, can't really recall which, and it was pretty damn meh. Now, before any other RE fans presume to burn me at the stake, let me explain, lol. When I played RE1, it was in late '98, so it had been out a while. I was, at the time, a pc gamer that had switched from consoles, but was making attempts at trying to re-enter the format. I'm sure I wasn't the only one that wasn't impressed by Resident Evil, visually or otherwise.
So, after that I never bothered with 2 or 3, but it was mostly because I didn't own a PS1 anyway. However, when I got the Dreamcast shortly after it was released... two very prominent and fantastic games hit the console; Shenmue and Code Veronica. I bought Shenmue asap, later that year, no questions asked, although Blue Stinger was one of the only games I had on the system for the longest time.
Anyway, Code Veronica was released at some point and one day my dad happened to have been browsing the game section of the rental store, which, frankly, I was surprised by that in and of itself. So, he comes home with a fresh, new copy, one of the few left, if I had to wager a guess. I was like, "okay... this looks kinda cool actually." Popped it in and pretty much played the hell out of it. I got roughly a third of the way through before I had to take it back, but then immediately took my money and bought my own copy. It took a while to finish the game, as I was technically still a newb at survival horror games.
However, it didn't end there. In the following months, Christmas came around and I got quite a few Dreamcast games, likely as part of a sale. The PS2 had been announced and Sega was ****ting bricks at that point, as were various merchants. I skipped RE2 and went straight to RE3 after I read the back. It trumped Code Veronica, which I still think is one of the better games. I did finish both scenarios of RE2 though, but neither lived up to RE:CV or RE3, personally.
Then, the Gamecube was released sometime later. It took me a while to get up the nerve to take a chance on it. However, it was well worth the risk, because I got to play both the REmake and RE0 simultaneously, with no delay. And I must say... the REmake blows the t-total hell out of the original Resident Evil 1, I don't care what anyone says. I even played the Director's Cut on a friend's playstation for ****s and giggles one weekend. There's no comparison, other than nostalgia perhaps.
So, this fan may have jumped on board a little later than other fans, but he does at least like RE1 in some shape or form, lol.
Agreed.
