It felt more like a Tekken game than Resident Evil in terms of story.
The story is odd. I'll admit the story has gotten less interesting and "out of control" since RE4. I don't believe Capcom when they say that they are doing things in the best interest of the story, and the games are getting b/c of that. Lying isn't hard after all. I think Capcom has always been too interested in change, they must have a fear of being criticized for stagnation or something.
Just look at any of their properties, they change them greatly after a few games. However, when they do it's like they are trying to make them something else and just carry over the most base elements of what it was to keep it familiar. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is always bad (Mega Man X was awesome.. for a while), but I think it doesn't work with every property. I think RE could have explored Umbrella, STARS, etc a lot more before jumping to all of these non-American countries. I feel like Capcom sat down and said "Okay, lets just end Umbrella and corporate crime and go with terrorism, that seems popular these days". I mean, you can't say Capcom doesn't reflect culture.
They don't seem to care, they just want to release a game and make a ton of money.
Pretty much I think. Don't get me wrong, I do like RE6, and a lot of their other games. I think this is how most companies are, it's just a matter of when they manage to strike that magic balance between successful and artistic, I guess you could say. RE6 isn't that, but I still thinks it's a damn good game. It's just a weak RE game in a lot of ways. I think the game play makes up for a lot of things though, it's crazy fun imo, and the easiest game play system so far. Really hands on and intuitive, and I love that.
