so is this like a soft reboot?

I've never played the other RE games because of the weird Final Fantasy elements I've seen from it, they just weren't my cup of tea. But the demo for this reminds me more of something like Outlast.

is it set in realistic world like the demo? I know the other games have people doing back-flips with double glocks taking out monsters Matrix style.

It is a reboot of sorts, and frankly RE needed it. I'd prefer going back to tank controls and fixed camera angles... but at least it's something not action oriented for a change in the main series.

Played quite a bit of bit last night.
I'm loving it, and I'm not even a first person gamer.

I do think its a nice return to its roots, as I have played almost every single resident evil game and have probably beat RE4 gazillion times.
Although I love the series, I havent felt the horror aspect of the series since RE1 and RE2. after that, it's been a fun game, but the horror aspect has been missing.
So I normally get my horror kicks from Silent Hill.

I will say after playing quite a bit last night, there's a constant feeling of dread, and it has actually managed to make me jump from some of the BOO moments.
Looking forward to play some more tonight after work.

Nice to hear. I miss the old days of RE in both RE1-3 the gratuitous gore. It went more PG after that.

Like in RE2 with both the Grenade Launcher and Custom Shotgun, you can literally destroy zombies from the waist up. And with the regular shotgun blow them in half and the torso crawls after you.

thanks snake. :duff

do you know if it still emphasizes gun combat? or is it more of a walking puzzle sim like the demo?

i think i'm gonna pick this up. the demo sold me.

From what I've read it's more useful to avoid combat, but combat is still involved. If you played REmake, it comes off as that of having limited resources and you need to be strategic on enemies you take out.

I'm sure it will fill her horror needs. RE has been brain dead for years in that regard.

If you haven't played the HD remaster, pick it up. Visuals are on par with today's stuff.

So like the first Revelations? :lol

Wish they did something like Siren: Blood Curse.

I'll have to, I've played bits of it on the ps1 years ago, but it was fun for what I remember.

Lol what?

too much anime.

Finished the game in 10 hours. Loved the first half. Second half was rubbish. Prob give it a 7/10.

I enjoyed the atmosphere while the game took place in the mansion.

Once the Bakers are despatched you are left with the molded monsters and they are just mundane enemies and also the atmosphere changes.

The game isn't scary at all.

You mean too much 'The Matrix'. No perverted tentacles or lolis = not anime. :lecture

Put in a couple of hours and really enjoying it so far, though some of the early parts I had already watched last week. Playing at night, lights off, headphones on max volume is best way to play this. :lol

I'm also hearing that Madhouse difficulty makes the game completely different somehow.

Can you connect headphones to a sound bar? Otherwise I'll be good tn... Home in a half hour or so

I'm glad those who are playing it are using spoiler tags, thanks!

I was wondering though, does the game uses tokens for saves? I know there are checkpoints but if it uses tokens like the ink ribbons, it completely changes my play style since I don't have many hours to play games.
