After spending the month playing REmake an ungodly amount of times, I decided to revisit Code Veronica X on the PS3. I bought the game during launch in 2011 but was never able to beat it. I think I beat it twice on PS2 in 2001.

So when I was playing CVX last night, I realized this game is way, WAY tougher than REmake. I can't even come up with a safe strategy in the first half an hour of the game. Am I supposed to down the earlier zombies in the game? Are the zombies exploitable when they lunge at you like REmake?

Oh well, more experimenting with the game until I get it right. I hated that Capcom changed the controls just like RE4 on PS3, this was before they were desperate for fan approval and just put out whatever they want.

CVX is tough, but if you know what you're doing you can get to Chris's section of the game and have a monster amount of weapons and ammo at the very beginning.

After playing The Evil Within, I decided to download RE4 on my PS3. I had a hard time adjusting to the camera and shooting at first but I got over it and remembered why I had bought this on two different systems and dedicated so many hours to it back in the day. Great game. Once I completed a run through, I got the itch to play RE5 again. I looked around the house for a bit before realizing I had sold it a while back.

I took a trip to EB Games and ended up buying RE5, RE6, and even Operation Raccoon City. The latter two games I had never tried due to the reviews. I like to play games solo, so having an AI partner is the main thing that makes RE5 weaker than 4 for me, but still I went through it and had a good time up until the final Wesker battle. It's just an annoying part that I don't find very exciting or interesting.

I'm not finished all of the campaigns in RE6 but I will say it's not as bad as I expected. The Prelude nearly scared me off until I got to start the first chapter and saw that I was given more control. However, I became frustrated near the end of Leon's campaign as more and more the control was ripped from me with the increasing number and frequency of cutscenes. Just let me play the damn game. One highlight was actually getting my wife into the game, so we were partners from Chapter 2 until the end. Before she joined, I had tried a chapter of each campaign and due to Chris', I ended up changing the difficulty to amateur. I was just frustrated that I was essentially in a war but always low on ammo. With weaker enemies and the item drop increase skill, I was no longer running out of ammo and having to run into the middle of the battlefield to do melee attacks. I could now focus on getting used to the controls and enjoy killing some monsters. For $5, it's a great game. Even if I paid $20, I'd still say I'm getting my money's worth. If I bought it at release for full price, I would feel cheated.

I haven't tried Operation Raccoon City, but with the reviews, I'm not in a rush.

I want to try Revelations but I haven't found a copy yet.
