Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

That looks like a 1:1 scale piece in the pic......If the PF is based off of that, I'm in......:yess:

I doubt the artists at Weta who created the 1:1 statue would be all that impressed should the PF resemble their work......

I don't know, immitation is the best form of flattery, and there have been plenty of Nazgul with rearing steed items available. It'd look great.

Got any pics of that one? Doesn't resemble the weta smaller scale one.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

:yess:I think that the full statue pictures that are being posted are of the 1:1 Weta Statue that made the rounds at conventions, but certainly not the Premium Format, as it doesn't look to have any mixed media elements.

I would be glad to see a pose that does have the steed rearing back on his hind legs, but I hope it isn't too extreme of a pose. It is really hard to tell any more of the pose based on the Facebook thumbnail, so I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but the confirmation that a Ringwraith on Steed is in fact coming soon is pretty sweet!

You're right Chris, that statue is the 1:1 scale Weta produced for conventions, etc...I assume it's fibreglass. Personally, I think it looks fantastic and while I can't see there being alot of composition options available where a rearing horse is concerned I do hope that SS changes it up a bit so that it doesn't look identical to something that has already been done before.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I would love to mix it up a little in terms of the pose too, and not repeat either this 1:1 or the gorgeous SSW statue. In thinking about the statue before, I hadn't thought about it possible rearing up for the PF due to the size. My best guess is that if the horse and rider were on all fours, the top of the rider would be about 36" high, but the horse from nose to tail would also be about 30-36" long... and this would be tough for the traditional PF base. I think no matter how it is configured, it sure isn't fitting in a Detolf!!

Agreed. This'll either sit across the tops of three Detolfs pushed together, or be the centerpiece on the coffee table in my living room.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

From today's production blog. They included the same image that Entropy posted on page 28. I'm assuming that everyone has seen it already:)

Q: Sideshow, it was almost 22 month’s ago [July 9th, 2009] that you first made mention of a Ringwraith Premium Format as being “in the works”. While you have made reference to it numerous times since 2009 [9 to be exact] in your Q&A section, we have yet to even see so much as an “in progress” sneak peek of this much anticipated Premium Format. I think I can safely say that LOTR collectors have been more than patient in going so long without even a glimpse of this statue. So how about rewarding that patience with a sneak peek to tide us over until it is finally released?

A: Indeed, it has been in design and development that long. You have indeed been patient, and we’re sincerely glad for your question and the excuse to share a teaser with you! This image is a bit older, and the sculpture has progressed quite a bit in the time since – but it gives you a sense of the monstrosity.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

Any speculation on the stuff on the left side of the pic? Looks like possibly some fingers in the middle left, but I'm not sure.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

Cool, we got confirmation he has left middle fingers! Exciting!

Hope we see this at the con.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I admit, I was both stoked and apprehensive about this piece, but I just saw it at Sideshow today, and it looks killer. It's back on my must have list at a full 1/4 scale of huge.

You've seen it? is the sculpt completed?

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I am quite certain this will be at con. I can't wait to see this one!
