Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I have a couple of friends who are either very handy or have amazing resources when it comes to tools, and I want to try more complicated woodworking projects down the road, but the plans and instructions I found for a bookcase project on Popular Mechanics seemed like a perfect design to retrofit for PF figures.

I would hope to make the RWOS (and possibly room for the Witchking or possible Twilight Ringwraith) as a base and then build up from there. I have always wanted to try woodworking projects, but I haven't had the courage to try one it! It should be interesting!

That looks great, I may try and use it as well, not sure I'm that handy though.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I know I am not that handy!!!:lol

I just have friends who are, and I am willing to learn. My friend built himself a beautiful arcade cabinet for a MAME computer, and it has all the bells and whistles. I hope that some simple shelves can be easier to engineer, but it seemed like a fun project to try, and I would rather try this than scour IKEA looking for something that might work for the oversized PF's coming our way.

I don't think I will try glass doors. My dad collected old lead toy soldiers, and he has a couple of really beautiful cabinets that have glass doors, and they usually obstruct some of the view, or make loading a figure very challenging. One cabinet has a door that slides open, but it only moves about 2/3 open, so cleaning the glass is a beast.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I can't take anymore, I really hope this is not shown at SDCC. SS has gone to a whole new level, can't......keep........up. :thud:.

There's no doubt SS, with their LSF announcement, has stolen the show and taken the pop art collectibles genre to a whole new level, but hopefully we'll have a moment or two in the spotlight as well....and the RWOS PF would be just the ticket. :lecture

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

The interactive booth map is up, and maybe someone can correct me, but I didn't see that any of the podiums or display space were set for the Lord of the Rings Premium Formats. I could be wrong, but I don't see anything set for display.:panic:

Did anybody else see a part of the display space that is set for LOTR Premium Formats?

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I saw that too seaward,it looks as though the Snow Troll and Boromir is all we're getting LOTR wise :(

There seems to be a distinct lack of PF's this year actually in all lines Hmmm

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

Maybe the scale is too close to the new Legendary Scale figures, and they don't want to steal that thunder. Maybe the RWOS is a better fit for Spooktacular or Black and White Friday?

I still hope that we will see some sort of preview video with information about some of the upcoming PF pieces, if not an actual reveal during the show. If I remember correctly, Sideshow still teases out information during the show and the remainder of the month.

As far as pre-orders go it looks like the only LOTR piece we're getting is Boromir......as Arwen and the Snow Troll won't be availalble until after SDCC. :( I'm going to contact SS directly and see what's up.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

Hmmm.

I couldn't find anything LOTR PF-related either.

On the one hand, that's a huge bummer. :(

(But on the other ... my budget is kinda breathing a sigh of relief.) :dunno

I think we'll see a much bigger LOTR presence at next year's ComiCon with The Hobbit coming just a few months later. Just a guess, though.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

As much as I want to see this possible grail of grails, my wallet is hoping this goes up for spooktacular. I'm really looking forward to the Snow Troll statue as well, so I want to make sure that there's plenty of time between the two. I don't want to have to make that hard choice (actually it wouldn't be that hard as there's no way I would miss out on the RWOS PF) when it's time to pay up.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I wonder ... Do you think there's a chance Sideshow might be pushing this statue and the Sauron PF into the Legendary Scale line? (Though I suppose there's a far better chance of that happening with Sauron than this one.)

Just a question ...

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

From the Legendary description, it sounds like Sauron will be a part of that rather than strictly PF

The Sauron statue is a few inches short of true 1/4 scale so there is no way it will qualify for LFS status.

that doesn't matter. LFS pieces are all roughly the same height, they don't need to be 1:2 scale to be considered part of the line. The Avatard piece is a prime example. She's not 1:2 scale, but she's 1:2 size. Sauron will be roughly the same.

In that case, maybe you're onto something......:lecture

I was thinking the exact same thing... Also they mentioned The Lord of The Rings in the news article, and it is still a top selling line for them.. my guess is he may be part of that line... and the 1st in the LOTR LSF.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

I just finished talking with SS's CS and while they wouldn't confirm or deny a RWOS PF during SDCC they did say to more item's would be revealed on July 25th......here's hoping.

I guess now we just have to be patient. It sounds like it won't be anything on display at the show, but one of their promotional pieces that they air during this time to whip us all into a frenzy.

The Boromir maquette is a great preorder, and the other maquette previews are nice, but I hope that we still get some PF news, and the news relates to the title of this thread!

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF

Seems like the rough rule of thumb for the Legendary Scale line is whatever scale gets the statue to about three feet tall. :lol

The pieces all seem to be about the same size, regardless of the scale. Which is why I was wondering if maybe the RWoS could be lumped into that line as well ... especially if the horse is rearing up ...? Maybe it ends up close to three feet ...?

Just thinking out loud.

(I gotta say, though ... if the RWoS or Sauron get priced at or around $1,600 -- like the Avatar statue -- I might have to bow out. :()
