My wife and I saw this yesterday and we thought it was awesome. We were in the panel at SDCC and were already excited from the previews we saw. The film did not disappoint. Andy did an awesome job as Ceasar. You really did feel for Ceasar.

However we felt some things could have been avoided had Franco's character educated Ceasar a little more. Now, this is not a flaw of the movie, just a turn that could've prevented these events from occurring and robbing us of a truly amazing movie.

Everybody must see this movie!!

What do you feel should have been taught?... No matter what Franco's character had given to Caesar it still would not have changed the reality that for all intents and purposes he
was a slave who could experience no individual freedom (as demonstrated by the collar and the encounter with the dog).

Weekend is almost over--- think it's time to do away with the spoiler tags?

Well, if Franco's character would have taught Ceasar what was going on, he wouldn't have felt abandoned. He even would have possibly come home. Also, I don't think Franco's character gave Ceasar enough credit for how intelligent he actually was and didn't allow him to experience many things. However I understand the growing up part was difficult because if anybody found out then the Dr would go to jail and many more consequences. So the growing up part I understand, but the part when Ceasar was put in the shelter, if the Dr would have explained why, then things would have possibly turned out differently

However, I'm glad they went the direction they did, because it worked beautifully and has turned out to be one of the best movies of the year, so far.

My mom just made me a Ceasar Salad... Oh, the torture..

:lol :lol :lol

Caesar was put into the primate shelter by court order because he attacked Will's neighbor who was attacking Will's father. Caesar was considered a wild animal by the world at large.

....and I think it's safe to say that Caesar was still considered an "animal" by Will too...albeit " a member of the family" like a pet. That scene was truly pivotal in so many ways...it wasn't just Caesar asking the question, "Am I a pet?", but Will hadn't really confronted that reality that until that moment, hence his babbling about the lab, Bright Eyes fate and Caesar's own origins. But it wasn't until that final scene with Will meeting Caesar at Muir Woods and Caesar telling him "Caesar is home" that Will may have gotten it.

What a amazing movie....we have'nt had a film generate so much great discussion (re: no complaining)in a while.

I think we should keep the spoiler tags until our overseas friends let us know the movie's out there...

I agree 100% with what you posted in the spoiler. :D

..

Absolutely. There are several Euro Freaks here who have yet to see this amazing movie! :D

I wonder how long this was in production. The CGI was on par with Gollum. In fact I can't remember the last movie besides the LOTR trilogy that had that realistic and seemless of a transition with real actor interaction.

After seeing this again (for the 3rd time) and with high hopes of an eventual sequel I have to wonder if...

Caesar and Koba end up being rivals in the ape clans, I kinda got that feeling when I watched it again since they seem to be two of the smartest apes, but who knows... just a thought.

:dunno

I think you may have something that could be explored in the second and third movie! (Re: your spoiler thought.)

I wondered the same thing.
