Ya know.. I'm actually a bit disappointed with the lack of Human hate throughout the movie.

I've never seen any of the originals.. except the Mark Wahlberg one, but I always thought Ceasar was this brutal ape who enslaved any living Human..

From what I've seen in this movie.. I'll be surprised if Ceasar and the apes don't
help the Humans find a cure for the disease or something..

There's alot of different ways they can go with the sequel(if/when it happens) one of which could be
now that Casaer's main muscle buck is dead, Koba and/or Alpha could overthrow Casaer and be a more brutal leader, or ceaser could develop into a more sinister leader himself over time
whatever they do i'm sure it will work well.

your impressions of the original Caesar are far from accurate.
Okay.. So he wasn't this evil brutal dictator-like Ape then?

I'm sure it will work well too, the whole nice and friendly Ceasar thing just didn't make much sense to me.

I was thinking, maybe as Ceasar develops more, as his intelligence increases.. He begins to realize just how inferior the Humans are, which would cause him to treat them like ants, slaves..etc.

Really hope we do receive many more movies in this series..

Jesus, what got stuck up your a$$?..

I just thought we were discussing it.. But we're arguing?
Alright then.

Coming out and insulting me isn't showing much maturity.
Get educated on what maturity is before insulting me FOR being immature.. Which I wasn't in the first place..

Yeah, I haven't seen any of the originals. I stated that incase there was somthing I'm missing.
You haven't said anything about how the hate for Humans grows.. So why are you attacking me?

Really wish there was more Human hate and death in the movie, and you're a perfect example of why. :wave

Oh, and I absolutely loved the movie, favorite of the year as stated in one of my above posts..

Sorry man, bad day.....

Is Ceasar supposed to hate humans? I thought he was supposed have been the one (at least in the old movies) who fought for equality?

My understanding after seeing RoTPoTA was that Ceaser was fighting to free the apes and gain freedom. I don't believe at this stage in the series he was doing it because he hated humans. He obviously had a great friend in Will; he just came across several idiots along the way, like Dodge Landon and Steven Jacobs.

You guys aren't opening your mind to sequel possibilities.

I'm sure Caesar's character could change dramatically, say with the death of his "father", Will. Suppose another human were to kill Will, Caesar's main link to his humanity, that could set him off. Or perhaps another ape is in direct conflict with Caesar's ideals, and kills Caesar himself? You never know.

There's also the fact that that virus and the potential nuclear threat will off a majority (most, not all) of the human race beyond Caesar's life time (events of the original Planet of the Apes).

Is there supposed to be a nuclear war or something ? I thought the end where the guy in the airport bleeds was an indication that it would spread and act as a virus to kill off a lot of people

in my opinion, Caesar's story is told... the film makers didn't realize this with Battle for the Planet of the Apes. this is the perfect opportunity to reboot the franchise and take a cue from the original Planet of the Apes novel... fast forward a few thousand years into the future with apes living with all of the comforts that technology brings... add a dash of political / social commentary for our modern times and allow the audience to learn something about one's self through the point of view of Taylor.

Having been a fan of the original films all my life, I found this movie a FANTASTIC take on an origin for a whole new series...

Caeser's future (like the possibility of future movies) is up for debate...but i can see it going the way it did in the originals...

Caeser trying to form a society of Apes and Humans, where both have equal rites and are held in the same respect. This of course, will have to fail at some point if they plan to get anywhere near the original film or the book.

Personally i'd love to see another movie with Will and Caeser in it, trying to build the Ape-Human society together and having someone on both sides set on Human/Ape dominance...

I really dont want to see them rush out the "Taylor" era movie without setting up foundations for new fans/old fans to see where they are going with the current "plot"....

And to take Caeser into account...you can see his personality represented in the other characters too...

Maurice, the Orangutan, is Caeser's adviser, social-moral compass and confidant.

Rocket (the Alpha Chimp) is a mirror image of Caeser, a bully without moral code, something Caeser could one day become...

Buck (the Silver-back Gorilla) is representative of Caesers strength and loyalty and willingness to sacrifice everything...

Koba (the disfigured chimp) is a show of what the apes could become in the future without a strong moral ground to guide them...(my money is on Koba being the betrayer in the next one :p )

Will, Will's father and the Ape Shelter Owner's son (Tom Felton) and the Pilot (David Hewlett) are Caeser's representatives of Humanity. Humanities Loyalty and Strength (Will), its frailty (his Father), its cruelty (Tom Felton :p) and its selfishness (Poor old David :p). These four people will probably prove to be Caeser's, and the future Ape Societies basis for humanity.

Anyways...I think i've rambled enough....gonna go get a drink :p

Doc

It's a good thing that security guard had fantastic aim and (I'm assuming) a low-caliber gun, what with the woman directly behind the ape he was shooting at, and all.
:lol

Good post, Doc. :D

I like all you takes on the various characters in the movie, apes and humans alike.

Loved it. Even though some of the dialogue and human scenes were pretty bad, the rest was fantastic. After Transformers3 it has restored my belief in summer movies. Excellent stuff, can't wait for a sequel.

OK. Finally got around to seeing this. It was this or Apollo 18 and my daughter picked the "monkey" movie.

I didnt expect much, and to be hionest didnt want to like it.

I was floored. Great movie and an awesome take on the story line. Franco didnt bother me and Serkis did an amazing job.

Hope they dont rush out a sequel, hope they take their time and do it as well as this.

Wow, what a great movie summer it has been.
