I loved the original as much as anybody here but if you remove the nostalgia, it's just a typical 80's movie that had great designs and alot of explosions and relied on gore. If you want to take more from it, then so be it.

Sorry - no offense.. but your comment here, just shows your depth of appreciation for the original film.

It's like I said nothing in my post.. why quote it, if you're going to skim right over all those important points I mentioned, & suggest that the myriads of fans who know the history behind this film; all the figurative stars aligning that were integral to the film, are just in blind love with it because of nostalgia?

You asked what this one was bringing but with the film not being even out yet, how is anyone really supposed to say what this movie brings? If it ends up sucking, then so be it. the originals will forver be on DVD, so uou always have that. And you act like the original movie changed the world or something, get real Like i said, I'm a fan of the original as much as a lot of you, and if you wanna take your appreciation to the next level and know every behind the scene tidbit just to call yourself a "real fan", then good for you.

And if this movie hits discount bins, who cares? Will that help you sleep better at night knowing the reboot didn't do as well as the original? That's a pretty lame attitude to have just because you want "your" version to be the end-all/be-all version. Same elitist crap you see in so many threads. Why even come in this thread if you hate it so passionately already? Go start an original Robocop appreciation thread and talk about how great it was that your magical stars lined up in there or something.

Lets keep this one about the reboot. If you think the designs are ugly, then fine, go quote one of Nam's many posts in here but other than that, you just sound like a baby crying about how much this sucks without even any official images/trailers out.

Why not? If this was another movie involving a Robot Cop, everybody would be complaining how its just a copy of Robocop anyway, so why not just use the name anyway I know everybody wants "original" movies but what hasn't been done already?

Don't worry, once the new movie comes out people are going to 180 and demand Hot Toys figures from it.

Again - no offense was intended, but some of your rhetoric there is completely inappropriate. I think this is the first time I've triggered such an abrasive response from someone here. Did I speak to you that way? Come on now..

Some wild claims there.. anyway. I'll concede, rubbishing a movie before it's had a chance is unfair - sure. I was mainly pointing out the stand out qualities of the original, that actually do make it a one of a kind film - regardless of the subject matter.

It's more about friendly debate with me at most - not mud slinging, so you have your view.. no worries.

I have nothing in stake with this movie, and whether its a reboot or original, I have no feelings invested in this franchise other than enjoying watching them with a bucket of popcorn. I was merely asking you questions to try to see how you, or others who hate the movie already, jump to that conclusion. I'm just playing devils advocate.

I am mildly interested in this reboot, hence why I do visit this thread.

And I still stand by my statement that people should at least try to keep this thread free from all the hating and at least keep it with info for now. When we get the official screen shots and trailer and it sucks, then by all means, feel free to tear this movie apart. Can't be too much to ask for, can it?
