A possible problem with this film as an origin story for Robocop is it appears to have a bunch of humanoid robots pre-dating Robocop. Kinda like Man of Steel where Superman isn't revealed to the world until after Zod and the other Kryptonians have already arrived and made themselves known. So like Superman, Robocop's thunder is stolen from him. There's no time for the public to be amazed by him.

Second trailer is better than the first. If the theme and messages are strong and prominent, I think I could dig it. I'll have to wait and see.

I have to go see this, I love the original and it's been awhile since anything Robo has seen main stream entertainment. If anything at least this gets people talking and maybe makes people see the original that haven't seen it before. The AMC theaters next to me have been showing classics since the beginning of last year. Robocop is going to be shown in Febuary with a special double feature with the new one. I ain't passing up on that, even if this remake blows.

One of the major themes in the original film was the disfiguring aspect of power. Oh, so you think being a near invincible badass is awesome? Leave your looks at the door. Power is an ugly mf!

The new trailer was just a bunch of "kabooms" with good special effects. The plot still seems flat, there's too many one-liners and there's barely anything on Alex himself. It's hard to fish a concrete story out of that trailer unless you've seen the original, because they're covering it all up with FX shots... Still not impressed.

So, yeah. Watched the new trailer and all I got from it was frakking Cylon toasters everywhere! Talk about swiping someone else's designs. All the robo soldiers look like Cylons. Not impressing me in the least.

Heh. Reminds me of Femto.

The black suit looks too rubbery. The silver versions are better. But apparently they're just not tacticool enough.
