That would be better. I don't know why they would do it story wise, but the tech is easier to justify.

From my understanding, the tech team in this film are attempting to let Murphy 'think' he is in control, when really his actions are all computer generated

I assume he'll eventually take control, but if it is a 'fake' hand, it could be another method of making him 'think' he still has some control...
