Well after rec'ving my Robocop from The Terminator (thanks Roy) I decided it was time to have a marathon. I know a lot of people hate Robocop 3 but I can officially say I dug it except a couple of issues, the little girl with the laptop makes ED-209 Loyal as a puppy lol and the fill in guy's voice just not the same, other than that good movie.

please discuss your likes and dislikes.

likes - Frank Miller wrote it... sort of.

dislikes - everything else.

this movie had few if any redeeming qualities and, if nothing else, teaches that you don't get the director of Monster Squad to do a Robocop movie.

Dislikes only: How dare they turn Robocop into a kids franchise, singularly personified in 3 by the...well, the kid obviously. Appalling.

Just once, for a fun change, I'd like to see a franchise that started out for kids taking a turn into hardcore adult entertainment. And I don't mean Harry Potter having a moodier colour palette! Lets have a Pokemon reboot with scenes of extreme violence, foul language, drug use and sex!*

*no not really, but I hope you get the point.

Loved Monster Squad, but, true, not the right feel for RoboCop.

Love the jetpack and gunarm features.

Hated Otomo. So not a good follow up to RoboCain.

The REHABs were lame.

Liked Kenimitsu (spelling) having bought out OCP. I would have liked to see Robo in Japan fighting some of their local, higher tech robots (but not androids).

Hated Lewis dying. I always wanted her to end up as RoboCopette after part 1 ending.

Liked Rip Torn, glad they kept Johnson, didn't like the new guy, ?Fleck?.

Liked the resistance folk, and the little girl reprogramming ED. Glad they had a real ED beign badass again.

Hated the Splatter Punks.

Hated not having Peter Weller. The new guy did a fair job, but there were little things like how he held his hands that were off.

Loved the pimpmobile. "What is your problem, sucka... I mean officer?"

I second, third and fourth that! It amazes me that kids gravitated to RoboCop despite the language and violence of the first one (myself definitely included), yet the studio thought it best to dumb it down for kids and the toy market. Unfortunately, RoboCop serves as a model that keeping it real makes fans, even kids, but gearing it to kids ruins it. If you make a movie to tell a great story, you make money. If you make a movie to make money, you miss the point of great movies.

The same could be said for the Freddy Krueger movies and Star Wars prequels, although the kid targeting really started there with the Ewoks.

I hope the RoboCop reboot next year is shockingly violent again, but I seriously doubt it.

Its also a bit of a cruel streak in me - the idea of kids getting excited to see a new installment in their favourite series only to find ''sorry young 'uns, this is rated R (18s)''! A kind of retribution for once great adult film series being made family friendly - inconsistent in tone with the previous ones and thus usually, if not always, being pretty much unacceptable to the original fans.

If you make a movie to tell a great story, you make money. If you make a movie to make money, you miss the point of great movies.

Very well put. The core of the problem with many a revived franchise.

last i heard Aronofsky was directing it and he probably isn't the type to shy away from violence.
i'm more worried he'll make it too serious, if anything.
also, it's already been confirmed that it's getting an R rating.

Excellent news, prefused. Why would you worry it's too serious though? Robo1 was extremely serious. The only comic relief was the black guy on Bodicker's team.

That said, I actually find Robo2 the most entertaining. Loved blue Robo, the black light feel to the dirty city (badly used in the Shoemaker Batmans), and RoboCain is still my all time fave robot, beating out previous fave, Maximillion, from the Black Hole.

Likes: His suit and accessories

Dislikes: Everything else .................. the film was not even watchable for the first time.

LOL thats how I thought to but it grew on me has anyone seen the I think its the SCIFI channel that had a couple of TV Movies??

HBO did the four Prime Directive movies. They sucked total ballz. They made R3 look amazing. The friggin' suit didn't even fit the actor and the under helmet had no detail at all, just a metal bald cap.

Black Robo was interesting to look at though. Paint apps were cool.

Like: Robocop suit and the Japanese guy dressed up as Mark from A Better Tomorrow (in one scene).

Dislike: The story. Very boring and it was a chore to sit through.

There is only Robocop 1. The other two sucked. Didnt have the same feel, too goofy and looked like they were shot like a cheap Canadian TV show.

Try hunting down "Meet The Feebles"

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097858/

She was worth the watch.

I liked the flight scene though. His rocket launcher was cool.

hardly.
while the 1st movie had some deeper themes to it, there was definitely a comedic/cynical slant to it.
the over-the-top violence. the hilarious ads/newscasts... Verhoven is a notorious smart-ass.
and there's no way you didn't laugh when Emil got melted and splattered on Clarence's car.

nope. the 2nd movie is awesome. try taking off your fanboy goggles and watch it again.
