You heard correctly, it actually talks about that in the extras, Sly (big surprise) has a great deal of HD technology at home and is such a fan of it, he wanted the fight captured like that, and apparently mimicked an HBO Pay Per View fight down to the finest details, even the camera positions and angles are primarily from the points where they would have camera men for a real match, a nice bit of authenticity to it, but the most mind blowing revelation of the extras, sorry if this seems like a spoiler, but ever hit in the film is genuine, there was no swinging and ducking, they both took blows, very impressive.

They should have had John Rambo blow his brains out at the end of First Blood as was originally intended. That's the only ending that made any sense for that character.

Had that been the only film, deffinately, but having 2 sequels with a 3rd on the way, the whole series has been as much Rambo fighting internal battles with everything as him battling the enemy armies around him.
