I need some help making an executive decision lol. I don't have either goku or 18 in my collection and i could only choose 1 at the moment. Goku at 65 and 18 at 80 which one would be wise to get now?

Get 18. If Goku falls out of your price range when you're ready to get him you could always pick up the rumored datong version that's supposed to come out the end of the month

A bootleg Goku is already floating about ebay from the same makers as the ssj3 we seen not long ago, doubt its datong though.

I wont advocate buying a bootleg over a real one though, its only worth it if the figure truly goes too high in price.

18 is more likely to go up in price soon, since many folk are burnt out of the Goku mold, wheras people who buy one twin, buy the other, pushing both up in price quickly.

I agree with you about bootlegging CURRENT products. But tamashii isn't making any money off of a goku bought from some scalper at a ridiculously inflated rate.

Always support the manufacturer when you can though!

Oh dont get me wrong, I would rather money went to bootleggers as scalpers, like you say, as long as its no longer available from tamashii, but please folks, dont buy a bootleg just because its "a bit" cheaper.

Normal Goku for example is still selling for non ridiculous prices, better to buy real than fake for a few dollars less and regret it due to shoddy quality, because even a good bootleg is miles under a legit one. Ssj Vegeta is a prime example, and to this day is still the best bootleg made yet suffers from brittle joints.

So i said screw it and went a head and ordered the remaining 4 Zero's in My Collection(100% Freeza,Piccolo,SSJ Goku,Spirt Bomb Goku).. I will get Trunks next month then it's on to collecting a few decent priced figuarts...

Just bit the bullet and ordered cell. I just got him from amazon for $180. Ouch. I probably will end up getting the datong frieza once it's released. I definitely can't drop another 200 on him

My blood pressure is raising for you.. But im sure you'll be happy with it. Cell looks great and I really dig his paint job; I just wish he were taller. Vegeta should be eye-level with Cell's crotch... unfortunately for Vegeta.

That's exactly why I've stayed away from all three of the androids. If I get one I have to get all three. The will is too strong to resist. Though perhaps I could bring myself to only order 18 to pair her with Krillin, since she comes with an extra Krillin head and the remote control. Those type of character accessories are a brilliant idea.

On the topic of Majin Vegeta, he's bound to come out. You can't say you have a decent Buu Saga release if you haven't released the basics and Vegeta is a main character in the saga (hell the show) AND he's quite possibly the highest demanded character. He's definitely in prototype at the very least. He just hasn't been revealed yet (for whatever reason). They're focusing on the movie now and I don't blame em since you might as well take the free promotion and use it to sell figures. Strategic timing on their part which is actually smart, something Tamashii is known to not be. We'll get him, but probably get ROF Vegeta before him. I'm betting on Buu Saga Vegeta being the next Vegeta after ROF

The only explanation for not getting majin vegeta yet is Wolvie's in my eyes: profit statistics. It'd be a hot seller and they wanna release that in a year they'll need the sales boost to compensate sales for lesser desired releases. This year they already have Vegito and possibly Ultimate Gohan for that.

This was a good point Wolvie made a while ago and I think this is a sort of... backfire from the line becoming so popular they can actually do supporting characters like the androids. That means their line up essentially gets watered down in terms of yearly sales numbers, no matter if it's successful or not, they're not gonna produce the amounts for the androids like they do regular goku. The aftermarket kinda proves that I think.

So yeah I'm affraid that by getting supporting characters more, it'll push some high selling faves further away, because they wanna use them down the line to keep yearly sales stats up, if not growing. I think Wolvie's right regarding that long term business model. This line is in such a craze that they can afford to think more long term. Especially because we know from Pwn that they have a ton of protos in their lab so they can always fall back on speeding up fan faves if the annual sales start to fall back.

In that sense I think the customers are cut by a double edged sword in the way a business deals with successful product lines. It's like in a game. The bigger the Boss, the more you should be careful not to spam all your attacks at the beginning and balance it out so you can keep afloat as long as possible. I think more and more they're progressing toward that. Longevity of the line sadly means more patience I think.

However I still think they make a business error if they don't have a goku and a vegeta available yearly. Goku is covered, but not vegeta. Guess they're working on how to do that. Or not in which case they're making a mistake imo.

Goten, Trunks, Yamcha, Chiaotzu, and Mr. Buu will apparently not be appearing in the next movie.

That's probably the most logical and savvy explanation as to why we haven't seen Majin Vegeta. When before they thought this line was about to croak and now it has done a complete 180 (especially in the International markets). Bandai/Tamashii has reanalyzed the line and basically has planned for it long-term. In other words, they're "stretching it out".

Considering ALL the Dragon Ball characters, it's not as many as other series and the actual 'main' characters is even smaller. I don't even think Bandai/Tamashii is thinking seriously of minor variations of characters YET (Namek Vegeta, Namek Goku, Battle damage SSJ Goku, etc.) but it should be on their horizon. I think you got it right, Silrian, in which we might see AT LEAST two "hot sellers" every year balanced out by some minor, less popular releases. Depending on how Bandai likes to announce their sales projections is how you might even see those releases pan out. Sort of how in the States here you hear about "Quarterly Revenues". This is why video game publishers are NOTORIOUS for messing around with game's release dates, because sometimes it's about balancing out those quarter earning profits to your shareholders.

Bandai Namco Holdings...who owns Namco Bandai (who splits their "major" business lines between toys and video games)...is a publicly owned company. Hence, they have stockholders to "report" to and everyone wants to see profits. This mentally does "trickle" down into the planning.

No that's from the sdcc 2013 Poll. 2014 didn't have one presumably bevause 1) nroly wasthe winner and it took longer to make him and 2) Ang's idea that they might (mostly) make that entire list.

But there's no vegeta on there...

Adam Newman, I believe that was his name, did say at NYCC that Tamashii already knows the line lay out due to the research that they collected. This is the only research that I know of but hopefully they have some other surprises to put in there.

The only Vegeta that is close to being considered a guaranteed announcement/release in the foreseeable future is from the movie.

17 and 18 werent on there either, so hopefully it isnt the ONLY source they are using, although a Bardock with extra ssj head would be quite cool imo.

My guess is that those figures are to help "pad out" the line from year to year, hence why we havent heard anything about Buu, Gohan or ssj4 Goku.

They weren't but you could argue that Tamashii started with the winner of this poll and the reveals/announcements seem to be directly from these choices. Yeah, they could easily include Goku's normal and Super Saiyan head sculpt in the packaging and Tamashii could just make the faces for it.

The figures from the movie seem to have pushed those figures back. The last time they showed them, they were pending licensor approval which usually means they're ready for announcement, right?

Not sure if I have the heart to play catch up. Even though I love Trunks I think I would develop an irregular heartbeat if my completest kicked in

Ha, understandable. Ever since I joined this line and this forum, this has been my mentality...
buy now cry later

Awesome! Are you going to take pictures and movies of them? I enjoyed the photos of Super Saiyan Vegeta. Hopefully Tamashii can capture that likeness for the next Super Saiyan Vegeta S.H. Figuarts.

I'm still holding out hope that Tamashii will release a Post-Cell Saga Future Trunks. Where he goes back to destroy Android 17 and 18. I have another 17 and 18 wait to be displayed in their "final moment" poses with Future Trunks blast them to pieces.

This would be the perfect opportunity for them to announce that they're web exclusive re-release policy is being revoked They could give us ROF Goku, ROF Vegeta, Golden Frieza, Whis, Beerus, and re-release Frieza. OR, they could announce First Form Frieza as the next release after the movie ones.
