after Goku fought Beerus & had to basically forfeit, Beerus tells him that he's only the 2nd strongest he's ever fought, the first being revealed to be his martial arts teacher Whis. Then he contradicts himself by saying Monaka is the strongest person he's ever fought. So is Goku the 3rd strongest, or is Monaka on par with Whis, or what? See what I mean, they're flipflopping more than Donald Trump

Granted Monaka technically didn't exist when Battle of Gods was made, but still. Just another example of Toriyama & his "team" making this stuff up as they go along, as I said.

Are we 100% sure Beerus was referring to Whis as the 1st strongest opponent in that instance though? I recall that he essentially said that up until now Goku was the second strongest opponent he fought, then goes on to say how Whis is his mentor and master, not necessary implying that Whis was the opponent he was talking about if I interpreted it right.

Can anyone confirm the dialogue? It's been a while and I might need to watch that part in the movie again because I'm pretty sure Super might have not included in that line of dialogue.

I don't remember the line exact words (especially in english - but I watched in portuguese as well):

He says Goku is the second best and Goku feels disappointed, then he says something like "Do you see my assistant there? He is also my teacher" (not exactly in these words), although he doesn't say that Whis is the strongest, he says that he's the master/teacher, which implies he's probably the strongest one... It was a clever move, maybe Toriyama had in mind things for future and left this by purpose, if he didn't do anything, it would make sense and if he decided to do something it would work as well.

For a better experience, use this video (which is amazing in my opinion) for reference, the dub english fight, the dialogue is around the 9 mins I guess:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h48Ru0-RJII&ab_channel=AttackonGodzilla

Dude, I'm a huge fan of the portuguese dub (my native language) but the voice actors in english are amazing!!! Especially the Goku voice actor, just look at this video (But Beerus voice actor is incredible good too!!)... When Goku voice actor says "I WILL NOT LET YOU DESTROY MY WORLDDDDD!!!" I feel goosebumps :panic:

This is the best part of the video and the whole movie for me :panic::panic::panic:

Looking back on it, I think the movie was better than the DBS version. The Raging Vegeta part too was MUCH better in the movie imo. It was shorter but it packed more of a punch. The Beerus vs Goku battle was somewhat better in DBS but it felt too drawn out at moments (but that's DB for you!). RoF too was better as a movie except for the extended Vegeta fight in DBS. That **** was epic, I'll give em that.

I agree that BoG handled it better than Super. There were a few things that were better in Super, such as the SSG ritual itself, but the battle between Beer & Goku was more fun to watch in the movie. I remember a scene where Bills moves so fast, he performs several techniques before the water droplets even splash on the ground. They even slow that part down a little to emphasize how fast they were moving, I thought that was damn cool

Oh yeah the ritual was so much better in Super. It really made the transformation truly feel godlike. Too bad the form was a one time thing and we'll never see it again.

I believe it was posted in this thread a few pages back that Toei and Tamashii were working hand in hand in regards to DBS and the movies. It's very possible that the reason for the overall sloppiness of the new material is that it's main purpose is simply for merchandise. Would make a lot more sense if that was the case and that's also very disappointing :(

You've hit the nail on the head there Prodigy. Merchandise is the number one priority over even TV ratings for DBS and that's from Toei.
If you look in the spoilers I've posted the stats and charts for Bandai/Toei. We can clearly see that there has been a huge spike in Dragon Ball sales since the releases of Battle of Gods, Xenoverse, Res F and Super, with forecasts to topple sales of One Piece. As the manga is to promote the Anime (which should be interesting to see what the manga will show us before the release of the next episode.) Dragon Ball Super is a huge Merchandise expansion from Bandai/Toei and Toriyama who I bet was offered lots of money to expand the lore and universe to help a diminishing Dragon Ball after the disappointment of DBZ Kai sales.

I think we can hopefully expect Dragon Ball with these figures to get a new game in the coming years and a high chance of a new movie, maybe more. As for figures we just need to keep shouting at Tamashii everyday until we get the likes of Nappa, Raditz, Bardock etc.. It worked with re-releases of Vegeta and Trunks, possible ssj3 and Cell albeit with altered colour versions.

All the unnecessary DBS hate is seriously tiring in this thread. We're 30+ episodes in, finally getting to new material (rather than just movie rehash) and even though the tournament with a separate universe is unique and cool for DBZ, people still overreact to the smallest of things.

Like that rage fit some of you guys had about Frost's true character was pretty unnecessary and seemed like a generic "I really need something to complain about." And this is coming from the guy who seriously doesn't like the look or name of "Super Saiyan Blue." I can get behind real complaints like the animation quality of some episodes suffering (like a lot of other anime) but just being mad just to be mad is annoying.

I want to discuss the show or new developments without the hate echo chamber. DBS isn't even that bad.

RADITZ, the images are coming up as an invalid attachment for me. Was it these you were trying to post?

There's actually a saying that rings true. There are two things in life guaranteed to make money: Dragonball and porn. :monkey3

People are justified in their disappointment man, its nowhere near dbz in its quality or execution. As I said before, I like it for what it is, but it was hyped up beyond belief before release, uts no wonder people are annoyed with it.

This is a forum, people are entitled to their opinion, be that good or bad. You cant expect everyobe to stop hating on it so you can talk about it, just as they wont expect you to stop praising it. Thats how it works.

I didn't say everyone should stop expressing their opinions. I don't like it much as it is right now and that's fine. I think it has potential. I don't necessarily like it but that sure as hell doesn't mean I'm going to spam hate-**** for several days. I didn't say people weren't justified either. And the stuff in my opinion being complained about is pretty unimportant. Like you said, this is a public forum so I'm going to state what I feel about this thread but in no way am I telling others their opinions aren't valid.

@Caped Baldy, yes those charts.

Do you guys think we will get any indication that the Funimation Dub will be in production or coming out this year soon? So many shows getting dubbed while the shows are still airing in Japan yet Dragon Ball seems to take forever even though the international markets are huge.

Also I would like to know everyone's SDCC Exclusive predictions plus thoughts on another GALERÍA TAMASHII NATIONS MÉXICO Exclusive?(Packaging)

People aren't hating just to hate. If you look above, some of us do agree that DBS does certain aspects right. We were just comparing the movies to the show a few posts ago.

I do agree that it has potential but so far it's not using it. The material is poorly written and it just is what it is. I'm not gonna lie to myself and say it's good because personally I (and others) don't think so. If it was good, we wouldn't be complaining and tbh a lot of our complaints are valid, whether you think so or not. That's the beauty of the forum. Some will agree, and some will disagree. For all we know the next episode could blow us all away and set the show down a course of greatness. I'm hoping for that to happen because frankly, as it stands now, DBS just ain't living up to what it can and should be.

Also people are salty over Super because it most definitely cut or delayed the Buu Saga releases from Tamashii's schedule -_-

Well that sucks too but if the show were halfway decent, I wouldn't mind and would want to get all the new stuff. Sure some of the stuff is cool but I wants my Majin Vegeta and his many faces :monkey4

I want my Majin Vegeta, my Gotenks with all the Super Saiyan-ness, my SSJ2 Goku, Kid Goten and Kid Trunks, and ALL OF THE BUUS! :cuss:

My guess for the SDCC figure would be for one of Vegeta's Namek outfits or Manga Trunks. I guess these specifically because we got Namek Goku last year which was a slight retool and because they have the Trunks molds for the PCE Trunks sitting in the warehouse already. Both of Vegeta's Namek outfits are slight retools of existing releases.

Oooh, Spoilers!

I wish I didn't read those but am super happy as a Vegeta fan. This means he's gonna kick some major ass over the next few episodes!
