Perhaps i would understand the plot better if someone made a diagram or somethin, cuz nothing what any of yous is saying still isn't making any sense

all i'm reading is "yeah he came from a timelime from another timeline that diverted from the 2nd timeline which created a loop from the other timeline blah blah blah"

no offense to yous guys, it's Toriyama and co's fault for making stuff needlessly over complicated for no reason

Goku Black Zamasu - Dragon Ball Super timeline Zamasu with no Future Trunks' involvement
Invincible Zamasu - Future Trunks' timeline Zamasu
Dead Zamasu - Dragon Ball Super timeline Zamasu with Future Trunks' involvement

I'm not sure how Goku Black Zamasu came up with the idea to switch his body with Goku if they never met in his timeline though. Unless it was from the Universe 6 Tournament but they specifically showed scenes from their fight which I think may have been a mistake.

Edited: Actually, it makes sense if the editors used the footage from Episode 57 where Gowasu was watching the Universe 6/7 Tournament on the Godtube because 1.) it lead Zamasu to be interested in a mortal (Goku) who was able to achieve the power of a god and 2.) it revealed the Super Dragon Balls and their power.

The Zamasu that changed into Black is the same Zamasu that Goku fought the first time we meet Zamasu when Beerus was looking for him because Blacks ki was similar. Hence why one of the first things Black said to Goku was "I wanted to fight you in this body as well"... That Zamasu was the only one to fight Goku.
Sometime after that, that same Zamasu killed Gowasu, took his earnings and the time ring, went 1 year into the future when he could use the Super Dragon Balls to switch with Goku. (From main timeline Goku's perspective, this wouldn't have happened yet.) The immortal Zamasu is the one that never met Goku, he was recruited by Black in Future Trunks timeline.

I thought I would post this. It seems Bandai is doing some new Dragon ball Super figures and the 6.5 inch line has caught my attention since I don't collect figuarts due to the $40-50 price tag. These will be $20 each.

Dragon Stars Series 6.5-Inch Poseable Action Figures
This series of highly detailed and poseable figures with 16 or more points of articulation will include characters from Dragon Ball’s rich history. Characters announced for the 1st wave include Super Saiyan Goku, Vegeta, and Beerus. The 2nd wave will include Goku, Super Saiyan Vegeta, and Frieza in Final Form. Exactly. The loop consists of the fact that Trunks warns Goku of zamasu, Goku then fights zamasu, that zamasu later becomes Black goes to Trunks' timeline, does his thing, makes Trunks go to past to warn goku. = Loop. A weird thing is that Black supposedly goes to a specific established alt timeline, that being future Trunks'.

The only actual explanation I can think of for that is that his time ring allows him to choose this and he choses a timeline where Goku and co are dead. Otherwise it's an impossible coincidence that he ends up in Future Trunk's timeline, instead of the past of his own timeline.

No offense taken Crisis.:lol I mostly find this funny tbh

Then what changed between that timeline and the current timeline? If Future Trunks came back to the past to warn everybody, it would be no different than the current timeline which ended up with Beerus destroying Zamasu. Some event had to have altered the 2nd timeline to become different than the 1st timeline.

Edited:
**** Toriyama for making this so goddamn confusing

When was the last time Dragon Ball had fans engaged and talking about so many different theories? They've stepped it up in Dragon Ball Super. This Saga/Arc is already surpassing a lot of Dragon Ball Z for me and I honestly thought that would never happen.

I want that Vegeta head for S.H. Figuarts and also in yellow and blue. Make it happen, Tamashii!

I'm really not sure what you mean... Black mentioned that one of the green time rings was because of Trunks traveling through time carelessly, which was one of the main reasons he did all this. He was aware of the alternate timeline and went there for the purpose of destroying Trunks for committing that sin and recruiting that timelines Zamasu. Things that happen in the main timeline don't effect Future Trunks timeline (its the same as it has been since Trunks went back there to kill Cell for good) Black realized this and used the time ring to go to that timeline. And the reason Zamasu in Goku's body was still alive after Beerus destroyed him is because he was wearing the time ring. (essentially, all they have to do is cut off the hand the ring is on and he'll go away forever)

Either way time travel isn't something easy to explain because everyone has their own ideas about how it works... Sure there will be inconsistencies in DBS because thats just how it is and has been... Plus I'm sure there are still questions to be answered in future episodes.

There would be two timelines for Dragon Ball Super's Zamasu after he fought Goku (Episode 53)...

Timeline 1.) He murdered Gowasu and made a wish using the Super Dragon Balls. This timeline creates Goku Black.

Timeline 2.) He's destroyed by Beerus before he murders Gowasu.

If Future Trunks traveled back to the past in both timelines, what events happened in Timeline 2 that altered it from Timeline 1?

Oh yeah I'm not saying this saga sucks cuz it doesn't. It's the best arc in DBS so far and kinda makes up for all the lackluster material before it. Doesn't mean it's still not frustrating with its inconsistencies and plot holes. I actually loved this episode but wrapping my head around everything is hurting my brain lol.

It has the possibility to be one of the best arcs in DB if certain events can be explained properly.

That's a good question actually, I wondered the same thing. But it looks like we'll either get our answer in future episodes or it will fall to the wayside as a lost timeline where Zamasu killed Goku by switching with him. Either way, it takes place a year after the current events. (By current events I mean the timeline where Beerus destroyed Zamasu before he could kill Gowasu. Your Timeline 2) Yes, Black essentially created another alternate timeline, Beerus solidified that by killing Zamasu before he could do all of that. Because previously, Beerus hadn't been there to prevent Gowasu from being killed and preventing Black from coming to be. But since Black is wearing the time ring, none of that effects him.

He knew about the alternate timeline because of one of the green time rings was created because of Trunks careless time-traveling creating an alternate timeline where Goku doesn't die from heart issues. AKA The wonderful bastard of a timeline we know and love. (It's scary to think that Future Trunks timeline is actually the main/first timeline, what if someone decides to correct all of this?).
Anyway, I don't know if Black used the green ring to get to Future Trunks timeline, but it is somewhat implied that he did or at least made him aware of it... But either way he went to Future trunks timeline specifically because his actions created a green ring. Overall it seems to me that if they go a certain amount of time into the future they automatically go to the future Trunks timeline. Otherwise the time machine that Goku, Vegeta and Bulma went back with him in would go somewhere else too. It only makes sense that is where Black would end up too had he gone far enough into the future.

Where do the timelines from Z fit into this whole mess? Are these additional timelines or do they interact with the other ones? [emoji848]

You know in the end, even the Cell Saga timelines actually made sense in some way or form...the only exception is maybe Perfect Cell's role.

But Super's is a whole other can of 'multiverse theory is a *****' :lol

Its the timerings, it has to be. As soon as Zamasu used them and changed time he created a parallel universe, thus creating the loop to begin with and ensuring that even Beerus killing him in the present wouldnt change the one time he succeeded.

Here, geekdom101 made a video explaining it as much as possible.

The 1st timeline that created Goku Black isn't all that confusing if you've watched the story arc from the beginning. Future Trunks is attacked by Goku Black and decided to go into the past to get help from Goku. This causes the events leading up to Episode 53 where Goku fights Zamasu but is different than the current timeline. Beerus doesn't interfere and destroy Zamasu in the 1st timeline so Zamasu is able to kill Gowasu, wish to trade bodies with Goku, and then travel to Future Trunks' timeline to the beginning of the cycle.

The 2nd timeline is different because Zamasu is stopped before killing Gowasu thus breaking the cycle of the 1st timeline. It would have erased Goku Black but because he's wearing a Time Ring, Beerus' interruption "correcting" the timeline has no affect on Goku Black's existence.

The only unanswered question is why did Beerus interrupt in the 2nd timeline and not the 1st?

well he is a fool? trunks mentioned to him about the androids and beerus said that he has the ability to affect time differently or something.

didn't zamasu Make goku black. cause there was no merging if so there would be three zamasu

That video helped out a lot. Kinda makes sense now but still doesn't lol. Time travel is confusing no matter how you look at it :panic:

Zamasu wished for him and Goku to trade bodies in Timeline 1. Timeline 2 Zamasu was destroyed by Beerus. "Timeline 3" Zamasu, Immortal Zamasu, is from Future Trunks' timeline.
