no way I'd pay more than $60 for a dbz figuart figure

good good, that'll make nappa more rare

My problem is mostly to do with the price related to what character were talking about. I'd really like to have a Nappa but he's not worth excessive amounts of money for me. And I think that's the problem tamashii faces. The market of people buying lesser characters for premium prices ain't that big.:lol

If you rescale him slightly I still don't see why he wouldn't fit Cells box. With only a few accessories I still think a price point of 65$ could be viable. I think the problem lies more with his estimated sales numbers in general, even of he isn't more expensive than normal. They'd really have to risk betting on the American market I think. I don't expect them doing that next year. The Androids, the first Buu saga character(s) (excl. ssj3 Goku) and with luck (at least for me) a new Trunks in between is what I expect still for 2014. If the twins aren't a 2-pack, normal Goku, 17, 18, an sdcc repaint and a rerelease (I'd bet Gohan) might be all we're getting next year.

That's why they should release Nappa and a character people want a lot at the same time and have them share a character slot (so they'd be releasing 1 more guy that year), so if Nappa doesn't do well they have the one right there that makes up for it.

I don't see how Nappa isn't an important character I mean they all fought him and he's what goes with Vegeta. And hey maybe if they make a Nappa they could make a Chiaotzu and one of his accessories could be a torso of Nappa that has a sculpt of Chiaotzu attached to the back. If that came out say at the same time as Nappa are you really going to tell me no one would buy Nappa?

I definitely wouldn't buy Nappa for that, sorry. Only one thing detirmining whether I'll buy him: price point, the character isn't worth over 70$ for me. Actually, even I have my doubts whether he's worth SHF money at all to me.

Also concerning frame of refference you mentioned, I collect this line, the SHF MMPR, DCC Arkham line, the new SW Black series (some), and some PAK's (Arkham, Mass Effect), so yeah I'm not in that 100$ price range (much)... Hard thing with this line, it attracts collectors of many price ranges.

I think if they made Chiaotzu they'd put him with Tien like Mew with Mewtwo in D-Arts Pokémon line (same with Yamcha and Puar). but I like that idea, I just see it more as they would add a Chiaotzu with a piece of back armor sculpt that you can remove off Nappa's back and swap it.

Also to the non-importance of Nappa, he isn't very important, yeah he did fight all of the Z Warriors, but that's not a very big accomplishment. The most importance he provided is the comical effect of him being huge and weak and Vegeta being small and strong

He's Vegeta's lackey, that's his entire character summary. Also, it's the simple scale effect DBZ's format is based on that, if a lackey is that strong (beats all the z dighters except Goku), imagine how strong Vegeta is! Now if Goku can take him out with one punch, IMAGINE HOW STRONG GOKU IS! *drool, drool* Now Goku is gonna fight Vegeta, ooooooooh! O__O :lol

I just got Krillin. I really like the paint apps on the figure. I found swaping the head to be a bit of a pain but other than that I really like it. I look forward to getting Goku and whoever else they release (please rerelease SS Vegeta).

yeah, thats how toriyama most of the times went to work when introducing new characters. Bulma & goku (later on krilin & goku) yamcha & puar, Tien & chaoitzu, etc...

Just out of curiosity how does Vegeta look sitting inside that Saiyan Pod?

Here is my 2 cents on the nappa situation. First off this is a line for collectors meaning if a figure is over 80$ will be fine with most that collect this line. tamashi has other figuarts the same size as goku and they cost 80-90$. if people are willing to spend 250-300 on sdcc goku or 150-200 on saiyan saga vegeta then it shows this line is for serious collectors.that being said if they realease nappa the same year as their most anticipated figure(normal goku) they'll make their money back just with goku sales.id think a nappa with armor is the better choice for around 85$and if it sells well maybe an sdcc exclusive. That is if the haven't figured out a way to remove the armor which I think would be their best option.might not look as clean from certain angles but it gives us the option.

Dear sweet God I forget people actually pay that much for SDCC Goku and SSJ Vegeta. I don't think I could bring myself to paying that much. It'd kill me. I just don't see these figures as worth that much, due to the size and varying accessory count.

Though I did order Perfect Cell from my Barnes and Nobles. Any issues or things to know about him?

That's how I feel and why I really don't care to spend much money on him. I like him and he served his role well. Kind of like Tien and Yamcha's roles in DBZ, although they have a bigger role than Nappa. I really liked their roles and the characters, and although I complete disagree with people calling the useless, I refuse to call them major characters. In Dragon Ball they were, and I would be upset if they got power levels to compete with the Saiyans. Power does not influence my interest in a character, it's what they do with it. I like all Dragon Ball characters, so I'm not hating on them. Well except for Bacterian. He stinks!

This. I'm a big supporter of this line, but there is a limit.

yeah!
i (and most of us) paid around 80 (shipping incl.) for SDCC picollo while you could get it for 40 at SDCC itself >_>
paid around 150 for D-arts metalgarurumon while the original price was 95 but good luck trying to find one now for that original price

so hey, nappa for 60-100 bucks (if not more)? ill take it!

I sincerely doubt this for a lesser character. We don't get to speak the whole market and look how many are at the very least ambiguous about it here! I think people over estimate this. If this was so clearly the case, then why do Tamashii themselves doubt it!?

That's after market price, because people missed out on main chars. Raise your hand, who's willing to pay high prices RETAIL, for a LESSER CHARACTER? I don't think that'd constitute even a tenth of the entire market.

I doubt Tamashii thinks this way. You make a product to profit from it, on it's own. If there's reasonable doubt Nappa will sell enough to reach the black, I highly doubt we'll see him, regardless of who his fellow releases are that year.

Btw, kinda interested to see, we could make a poll (a real one with computed tallying) asking what the price limit is they'd still buy Nappa for?

He is not a lesser character in everyones book. He was vegetas right hand. He killed a few z warriors and caused havoc. He is one of the few remaining saiyans.

Not all companies worry about making a lot of profit on a figure or two. Especially tamashii which is probably sells the most 1/6 figures. For example I collect hot toys. At first they weren't going to make avengers hulk because he would be huge and they couldn't sell him over 300. They ended up making him and sold for 299. While most hot toys sell for 199. They even said they weren't going to make any money from it but did it to finish the avengers movie line and for the fans. I know hulk is a major character but im using the example to show companies can take a hit from one figure.

Also we all bought sdcc piccolo at 80$ as well I don't consider it after market because we couldn't get it unless you live in san diego. and toy arena sold it at that price and bbts. So people paid 2 times more then original piccolo for a re color. Like I said if the figure comes out good people will buy it. If you say I wont buy it if its over 80$ and he comes out looks great and is 85$ youll cave in and buy it. That is if you collect every character or like nappa enough.

Im definitely buying nappa if he comes out but im a completionist and i will buy every character they come out with regardless of price...as long as its not over 120$ thats my cap an i think no figure will go over that for retail price except maybe shenron(if they do sell him) but then again this is the only line i actually collect besides my nintendo super smash bro figs lol

How often does that happen though? Hulk was as you say, a special release for fans, which is unheard of in premium lines. I doubt it will happen again, in any line.

Fact is that Nappa was big at the time but most just dont see it that way now, not when we have frieza cell and every other villian in dragonball.

Tamashii does these figures for profit, they are a business. If they dont see a profit it wont happen, regardless of our want for it.

They almost cancelled the line for poor sales before, I highly doubt they would release something that they know would sell poorly now.
