I agree with you Deano. I really like both characters and were good for their roles though , but they had more impact pre-DBZ. Watch the scene where they're refusing to wear the Saiyan armor. They pretty much ignore Tien when he shows his disgust for it. No one cares if you wear it because what are you going to do? He just felt like a tag a long. Yamcha felt like he was a part of the Kame House family though. Tien just popped in when he wasn't off in the world training with Chiaotzu. Yajirobe did just as much as them. Videl had more impact on me in DBZ than they did. Mr. Satan is one of the main characters in the Boo arc, and contributes far more. Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, Bulma, Krillin, and Trunks are the core main characters to me.

I think in all honesty many people had a straight hatred for kid Trunks simply because future Trunks was such a bad*** and kid Trunks was just a brat lol. Goten acted too much like a brat too compared to what Gohan was like, which put me off him.

What i liked about goten and kid trunks was their friendship/ rivalry, it reminded me of like me and my best friends as a kid how we always used to get into trouble n cover each others backs lol and as for them being brats...they were but what do u expect from a 7&8 yr old who can go ssj already they were born super pwerful already lol technically i dont see how come goten and trunks didnt eventually surpass gohan goku n vegeta in regards to their power( we always see them as slackers which is a bit dissapointing)

I think you just hate kids. I'm just kidding! I don't understand the hate, but I appreciate your explanation. I could see Trunks growing up to act like his future self, but even if he didn't, I really liked him. I thought he had some really good characterization in Wrath of the Dragon. He had a lot of Vegeta's influence, whereas Trunks was just raised on Bulma and had a hellish life, without the luxuries his younger self had, so he never had a chance to take anything for granted, and Bulma had become much wiser when raising him. I thought they were great. The peeing scene and when Trunks gave his explanation for what "wizard" meant, brought back memories when I was 5. With everything so PC and people perverting things, it's nice seeing their innocence.

In DBZ Yamcha and Tien fade into the background in comparison to the saiyans, but their real impact on the story was in Dragon Ball. And you know what? Figures of them in DB style would be awesome. Their design doesn't even change that much anyway, Tien just changes shirts and Yamcha changes hair. As long as there was a decent kid Goku to go with it I would buy the hell out of original Dragon Ball figures. But that won't happen...

I would want a tien an yamcha figure mainly because of this, but i would want their android saga outfits. Reason being i think thats the last time they were really any relevance..even remotely and we cant complete the gang without them lol

If they were to make Tien, I would definitely prefer the green half-gi over shirtless or white shirt. Although if they made the half-gi detachable to make the shirtless version, that'd be ideal. For Yamcha, he has too many hairstyles! They have to at least have the android saga spikes, but the saiyan saga mega-mullet is also an iconic look for him. They should just have both!
Nobody would pay that much attention to Yamcha though...

If you truly remember dragonball you know it's utter bullocks that tien and yamcha are seen as a duo. They're just straight up not. Not in any freakin way.

Massive dragonball spoilers:

Yamcha is a desert bandit living with a shapeshifter who's base form is a cat. He comes across goku and bulma and he likes bulma so he tags along. As Bulma breaks up with him and he has absolutely no life whatsoever he manages to sneak his way into training under Roshi.

Tien is the student of Roshi's biggest rival and was training together with Chaotzu to become strongest and defeat Roshi and any of his pupils. Eventually partly because of Gku and Roshi he sees how he's been brainwashed and eventually switches from Roshi's rival to Roshi himself.

Krillin and Goku are Roshi's original 2 pupils and are main characters where the rest aren't. Because of this, often Tien and Yamcha are seen together as they are Roshi's students apart from Goku and Krillin, but not in any way are they a duo. Not in any way do they even hang out much.

Tien had a big part and was one of the main villains in Dragonball. He still manage to stand his ground and defy evil in DBZ and actually does way more than Yamcha.
Yamcha's a freakin loser, he fails in pretty much literally everything. He's useless as F in DB and he's even more useless and not even around in DBZ.

I'd buy Yamcha solely because he's just part of the team, but really, that's the single only reason. Whereas Tien actually has a good arc to him and manages to make himself useful in both series. In DB he's also the third strongest after Goku and Piccolo.

Truly, watch DB if you haven't, it changes your perspective on it a lot and it actually improves DBZ a lot too imo.

The whole "tien & yamcha" duo thing is simply incorrect. So definitely don't let Tien be dragged down by Yamcha's utterly pointless occurrences in pretty much everything after the first few eps of DB.

Yamcha's sole reason to be there is that some one in the proverbial gang doesn't win every fight in tournaments in DB. He's just there to show how strong the others are. And because he's just there... he's bored.

(And ftr I had never realised this, not having watched DB properly before a few months ago.)

They should just make a separate SHF Dragonball line and make tien and yamcha in there.

In any case I gained a lot of appreciation for Tien (and Krillin and Roshi) as a character watching DB and lost pretty much all of what existed for yamcha. From the very first episode till the very last fight he has his character exists solely to be defeated. Plot-wise, that's all he is around for. To show how strong the main characters are by showing good side characters losing out.

I think people see them as a duo at the moment because their the only 2 Z Fighters left and the most irrelevant Z Fighters in DBZ, at least that's why I think it at the moment (also maybe because they fuse in a game), but I don't think of them as a duo in general in DB.

Also to Yamcha's hair styles and Tien's outfits, option parts set with Tien torsos and Yamcha hairs :lol

Like others, I would like to have a complete Z Team. So, I would by Yamcha and Tien for the sole reason of completing the team, and not because I care for either character (though Tien's design is pretty cool and different in the series, IMO). Heck, I'd even buy Chiaotzu just to complete the team, and I really don't care for his character.

I would absolutely love both Tien and Yamcha, regardless if how strong they are I want the whole Cell games team. I swear they just get lumped together because the spend the majority of the frieza saga chilling out together at King Kai's haha

My only real point regarding them both is that imo the line isn't just a DBZ series line anymore if they release Tien & Yamcha. Same for movie characters.

I'd still gladly buy 'm both, but I'd just as easily see the irrelevance of 'm if they wanna stick purely to DBZ.

If we got Kid Goku, Tien and Yamcha would shoot up high on my list. I would want their Saiyan saga looks, because it's closest to their Dragon Ball looks. From a DBZ perspective, it would just be to complete the team. I don't find Yamcha a useless character. Fighting isn't everything. He was a good friend and comic relief.

Can't wait to have Tenshinhan and Yamcha on my collection. I don't care if they are not as strong as the saiyans and/or how many times they have died.

As for Yamcha, I'd like to have a figure with both hair options (saiyan and cell saga), but I realized that the simbol on his chest would be an issue.

As for Tenshinhan, it would be great if they make him shirtless but with the green vest as an optional part. I believe it is possible even though bandai cold have done that before with Mirai Trunks and Android 18 and they didn't.......

So, if Bluefin Tamashii sticks to a similar timetable that they had last year, we'll see the SDCC Exclusive reveal sometime early June... I was thinking that they showed it sooner than that, but I just went through their FB page to find when they first teased Piccolo. 3 more months before we find out... The suspense is killing me!

Hey Havok, I see that as a positive! They keep dying, but refuse to give up on the fight. Yamcha got beat up so much, but kept going. Once, he realized, he couldn't compete, he still supported them in other ways. I don't understand why people say the Boo arc made them useless. At least Yamcha helped collect the Dragon Balls and flew the family away from the danger, and Tien saved Mr. Satan and Dende from Boo, thus indirectly saving the world. They did nothing in the Freeza arc. It's not their fault, being dead and all. In the Cell arc, Yamcha helped Chi Chi take care of Goku, and flew him and his family away, so the Androids wouldn't find them. I like Tien more than Yamcha, I just want to give the guy some credit. I liked them throughout the series, and I'm glad they weren't forced more. I love Dragon Ball, because it feels so natural.

I hear you Cloud!

Everything here is true. Great point. Really appreciate the characters. Bring on yamcha and tien. :)
