I'm not gonna just spend a bunch of money on stuff that "looks good" (on which I don't even agree, most of the movie stuff as well as practically everything in gt, ssj4 included, doesn't look cool to me at all. I barely like ssj3 let alone 4) hell I could buy half the things I lay my eyes on with that attitude. I buy collectibles because I have ties with what it represents. I only have ties to the DBZ series, not the movies nor GT.

And if you think that makes me less of a dbz fan you have a BS dfinition of fanhood.

Everyone is a fan in their own right, its not for any person to deny another of that just because it contradicts their belief. The fact of the matter is that the movies and GT arent canon, except BoG, reason being that no effort was put into them being canon in the first place. That isnt to say that anyone who agrees with me is any less a fan, same as enjoying them makes you any more a fan.

The major issue I always had with the movies in particular is that with just a few modifications to their stories they could have been canon, example being Broly; the multiverse comic does an excellent way of making movie 8 work in canon, simply by having Goku and Gohan fpssj, having Goku mention Cell,and having Gohan show a bit if his ssj2 power. Those little changes made that story fit.

Honestly, I haven't seen BoG, but in every other case the only DB franchise material I find good, and am a fan of, is DB and DBZ up to and with the cell games. Most of the buu saga, all the movies and the whole of GT is pretty damn crappy to me and that includes the designs. Oh yeah the future trunks movie is an exception, but a logical one and apparently canon too didn't know that.

Doesn't make me any less of a fan of the DB stuff I do love, which I love deeply.

my point is, it's everywhere. you like the first 2, that's cool but the later gens introduced some great pokemons and stuff too. i just dislike the kind that says gen 1 is untouchable, perfect, blah blah blah

Same here, pretty much a fan of every pokemon gen, I used to think like that, but then again, the 3 gen was my favorite... So

I actually loved DBGT, maybe because I was like 6 when it aired on tv? I'm 21 now though

For the most part, agree. Saw most of the DBZ movies and thought that they were terrible - terrible plot/ plot development, terrible conclusions, and terrible music.

I know some of you don't like the ideea of mobie characters but there are a lot of great designs that would look nice. Like Trunks in Bojak movie. I would like Turles for example.

@Blood I wouldn't say something is perfect, of much of anything at all really, but I genuinely am of the opinion the designs started to really suck from 3rd gen onward. And Designs are factual things you can point to, nostalgia can't make blue red, or big ears small. It can't make a design more or less coherent than it just is. I think the designs are too sloppy and far fetched because a lot of them ceased to be uniformly based on one animal, which is what I liked about pokemon. The first gen especially was very themed. Every pokemon was clearly one thing with a solid simple colour scheme, and it was rooting in something logical to that theme, whether it was a ghost or a plant or an animal. There were just a very few exceptions that had a magical or exotic feel to them, like Mew. But even Mew had a simple colour scheme. After 2nd gen it all became really uninspired and just 'oh and we'll throw this on there, and some blue and some green and some yellow' I don't think most well designed. Some I like, Leafeon rules.

It's completely fine to disagree but if there's anything I'm tired of it's trying to negate other people's argument by saying their nostalgic. The opposite side of that coin is saying you're just a fanboy. Point being it's useless in both directions. You either have arguments for why you like something or you don't. I have arguments based on things anyone can see for why I dislike the later pokemon gens. And the same for the Buu saga and the movies and GT. You can disagree on your opinion of what I point to, and perhaps even like it for the same thing I dislike it, but what I point to is there nevertheless in and of itself.

Case in point: never really liked digimon for the same reason: I don't find the designs appealing. And I had that from the beginning so that can't be nostalgia influenced.

Just is what it is man. people differ in what makes something good or bad to them.

Siliran I would honestly say it was Gen 5 where the designs started to get un-original; ice cream cone Pokemon? We even get some repeats like trap Pokeball Pokemon (Amoongus) and so on. Plus some of the new abilities are genuine trash.

Nothing, it all started with using the words 'a real fan would' which you should just never do honestly. A real fan wouldn't do ****. If you're emotionally tied to the canon material and love it for whatever reason, you're a real fan. Period. If you like stuff of the franchise outside canon stuff that's equally fine, but it doesn't make you more, or indeed less of a fan. It makes you a fan of more, not more of a fan.

Simple as that.
