Is ZyuRanger the most popular Power Ranger series out there? (It's arguably the most recognized Ranger series because of its importation to American audiences as the first ranger show). Do Japanese audiences think it's any good? Is another ranger series even more popular in Japan?

Well, Japan is a lot different than America. Zyuranger is popular there to an extent I'm sure, but for the most part they have their own favorites. Zyuranger has a much different meaning here because it was the first "Super Sentai" shown here and it was the perfect storm. It dropped after Japanese media had started to gain a foothold here, but before the anime craze really took off. It's really something special here versus being just another, albeit fantastic, Sentai series in Japan.

ZyuRanger was not a fan favorite. What people don't realize is Sentai in Japan has been around for years, decades even since the 70's hence the 37th anniversary.

What does that mean. Nothing really for them to get excited about because ever since Goranger was born, there have been a Sentai Series every single year to this day and still coming out every year. A Sentai series has to really be memorable and elite for the fans to have a following in Japan, otherwise they're used to seeing a series all the time for tv.

I heard that Gokaiger has a strong fanbase following among the japanese, probably because it broke the traditional mold of the rangers being good and helping the earth. Whereas the Kaigers are pirates who only care about treasure and their own personal issues. They also pay homage to the Goranger history and culture as well.

Shinkenger because of the Samurai theme as well.

If PR started in the states around the 70's I'm sure the U.S. would treat it the same way as the japanese do. It made an impact in the states because there was nothing like it before by then. The idea of rangers was new and a fresh idea to the U.S.

For the Japanese the idea of Sentai is just a everyday drama they are used to watching. Since viewing Sentai is automatic in Japan, the second would be the story line or plots that excite them. Zyuranger was more of a story arc towards kiddies because of the dinosaur theme and extreme involvement of children in the episodes. It didn't win over the older fans of sentai too well.

Now to answer the question once more. Zyuranger wasn't that popular in Japan.

To be honest, Kamen Rider has a huge following in Japan, more than Sentai at times. The Japanese love the Kamen Rider franchise. Ultra man is another identity that Japan absolutely admires and never gets sick of as well.

I know the U.S. has tried to do both Kamen Rider and Ultra man ideas and have failed.

I would have to believe if they attempted to bring back Kamen Rider and do it right in the states, I'm sure the franchise will be an instant classic.

In honesty PR was a risk and a fluke that paid off, mostly due to how saban handled it, with the music, adaptation and constantly changing the formula with new villians and stronger powers.

Imo PR could have worked with any sentai show, but by chance zyuranger was used and the whole dinosaur thing really took off, and im glad it did.

^Gekiranger's my favorite. What sucks is I prefer them in their powered up forms and plan on passing on the main 3 in their solid colors. I hope it's not a long wait I'll be happy just to have GekiViolet and Rio/Mele.

I have to say that if they would have jettisoned the the hokey comic relief characters Dragon Knight could have been that classic... The storyline itself was a pretty good spin on Ryuki's story and the added fight scenes were awesome...

I got my White Ranger from Amazon today via Prime.. they mailed it in a ****Ing bubble mailer. So of course the box is all dinged up and the plastic part is cracked. The figure is fine, but it really pisses me off. I want to return it, but at the same time I just want to keep the figure as I've been waiting ages for him and don't want wait anymore. lol.

If used correctly diecast is a great way of balancing a figure, like the SRC line where they made the megazord. Die cast is only a waste if its used for the sake of using it.
