No, Tamashii makes figuarts, Bandai is just the parent company. They have different artists, sculptors etc to the model kit sets, which Bandai makes themselves.

Bandai make use of the joint system for the model kits though, hence why they seem so similar.

Thanks for the explanation. I always just thought SHF's were by Bandai themselves and not just a parent company. It all makes sense now.

I also think there's hope for Solo. As I mentioned a few pages ago he's one of the lost souls of the star wars series, like Anakin and Luke. The lost souls bring balance to the force because they see things from both the light and the dark side. On a related/unrelated note, I was kind of hoping we'd see Luke rocking black like in ROTJ, but Lucas and this whole Sith nonsense has made it so only the bad guys wear black. If Luke would have been wearing black everyone would have said he was a Sith Lord. That was one of my favorite things about ROTJ Luke, he was this tormented Jedi on the edge of light and dark. But perhaps that's why we don't see him in black anymore, because after the events of Jedi he chose the light, so now he's embraced that Old Ben aesthetic.
Watching the Clone Wars on netflix has made me realize the Jedi are a militant cult masquerading as peacekeepers. The lines between good and evil are blurred. Lucas really missed an opportunity to play that up in the movies. The films portray Anakin as a whiny teenager full of misdirected anger, but actually he was a battle-hardened soldier at odds with his own ideologies and those of his religion -- at odds with himself, the decisions he'd made and the ones thrust upon him. Born into slavery, taken from his mother when he was a child, and then only reunited to watch her die. Not an easy life.

Anakin never signed up to be a soldier, none of the Jedi did. He just wanted to protect those he cared about. He never really believed the extremist dogma of the Jedi order, and honestly I'd be questioning the whole thing too. I mean, that's why the Jedi Council didn't want Anakin to train as a Jedi, because he was old enough to see past their ********. The Jedi usually started training before the child was old enough to think for himself, so that the Jedi dogma can be fully indoctrinated without question. If Anakin's anger, which was completely justified, would have been expressed in complex ways instead of outbursts of generalized angst we would have related to him a lot more. Too bad Lucas doesn't understand human emotion.

Finally someone with good point of view!

Just finished building the bandai model kit BB-8, this figure is brilliant & far exceeds the black series BB-8.

My gf wants to go out dancing tonight but I want to stay home and build Boba (though I will never tell her that). Boba will have to wait. I guess I'll be a human person and go out on new years eve.:gah:

Welcome, Dan. This was an excellent choice for your first post.

Pics look great Scoobacca! The prototype pics showed a separate stand for bb8s head, glad they abandoned that, a peg gives him more expression with tilting the head imo.

It still comes with the extra stand, you can do it either way.

Regarding model kits, I have built 4 OT Stormies so far because I think they are the best Stormies ever in this scale.

And i'm not really even a model builder.

Was planning on doing the same for FO troopers but I am not liking those shoulders at all. Too big/square/boxy looking.

Yeah man, I'm actually considering getting some. Thing is once I get one I'm gonna get over 9000. I was thinking I'd get a bunch of kits as the troops in the back and have some Mafex troopers up front to have some variety. I've never army built before and knowing myself, it's gonna get out of hand. I'm scared to take the plunge but I'll most likely do it anyways [emoji37]

Oh yeah, none of which are drawn up yet but I plan on a millennium falcon(probably not the entire ship but a significant amount), throne room from ROTJ, and Endor for my scouts. Probably do the first scene from ANH as well.

You've got a pretty great line up of dioramas coming, I would love to see the Millennium Falcon's main hold be made for the SHF figures. Best of luck to you.

Hey guys Happy new year to everyone. This is my first time here and just started collecting about a year ago. Shf Star Wars is my favourite line and I'm super stoked for 2016's lineup.

I've got a small collection nowDSC_0097.jpg

Also, otw are Kylo Ren, 4 Clones, 2 Droids, Captain Phasma and Luke
Preordered are 4 Baton Troopers, Speeder Bike & Mace Windu

I am afraid to start army building but already have ordered more.

I received my first SHF: Kylo. A pretty cool figure, great paint and articulation. I have Maul coming....I'd like to grab Luke, FO Storm Trooper and a handful of 2016 offerings.

I thought I read here earlier in the thread that the SHF Luke had one leg longer than the other? Something about the knee joints where one was higher than the other. Can someone confirm if this is accurate? Just very curious. Thanks

I haven't noticed this, seems well balanced to me.

Haven't noticed that on any of mine but if that did happen it's probably just a simple case of the knee peg not being pushed in all the way at the factory would just be a heat and pop in (shut up) fix.

I actually have a few of them myself and I can see what you're talking about. At least two of them came a bit uneven when I compared them. But all you have to do is tighten the joints by pushing them together and futz with it a bit. You'll notice that they're actually fine. Good luck :)

On that note, I also noticed that some of the heads aren't completely flush with the hairline when you put them together with the hair piece. All it took was some hot water to soften it up a bit so that it can pushed in tighter for a better fit. Followed by some cold water to harden the plastic and make it permanently fit flush with the hairline.
