Chewie looks amazing. Sadly more accurate than either of his hot toys versions also :slap

Im ok with the height, though I wish they made him taller, but personally Im having more trouble with Han's highlights all I see is 112973-446x600r1-miley-straight-highlights.jpg (yes Im sorry :thud:

Idk how anyone can say with a straight face that the BS is better. This looks just like Chewie and the paint is very well done. The height is fine too.

BS has a handful of figures that are better overall but not in this case

It's not a case of it being better straight out of the box, with a repaint it could look good. The above pics do make the SHF look better than previous ones that much is true. It's not wrong to express a preference.

Well yeah everyone can have their preferences but sometimes it just as plain as night and day when one is clearly better than the other. BS does certain things better than the Figuart but overall the better one belongs to Tamashii imho

Both black series Chewbacca's have better sculpts and are more aesthetically pleasing (better proportions, height, hidden joints, faces that actually look like Chewie).
The thing that sucks about the black series Chewbacca figures are the paint apps. The Force Awakens Chewbacca would make for a perfect OT if it wasn't in an orange-y brown plastic.

The opposite is true of this SH figuarts. It has superior paint apps and a nice tone to the fur, but the sculpt, height and all those joints are awful. I don't see how people here can like those ugly knees, crotch, elbows, and that ****ing seam on the head where the face detaches, especially when SH figuarts have done a great job of hiding joint and features on their figures (see Darth Maul where his joints blend in with the costume, or Luke's hidden knees and perfectly executed blast shield helmet).

When you factor in the price, it's not even debatable. The black series Chewbacca figures can be had at as low as $14, $15. The SH figuarts is ****ing $60. I'm sure you could find a great custom artist that could commission a nice repaint of the Bs Chewie for $30-45.

I'd rather have a better base figure than a better painted one. The Black Seeies Chewbacca's can be enhanced and fixed up with a little paint and a nice wash. Good luck trying to fix the issues with the SH figuarts.

some people just like the import aesthetic imo, even though they're sometimes jointy.

The price difference is for many reasons. Paint apps, better articulation, more varied expressions in both faces and hands, and just overall higher quality. Price is a factor but it kind of isn't. The cheaper price is for a cheaper product.

I will say the joints could be better hidden on the Figuart but besides that it's not as terrible as some people are making it out to be. As far as height is concerned, it's better scaled with the Figuart Han than the BS is, no argument there and that Han is the definitive 1/12 Han so far no matter what small gripes people may have with him.

I feel like the nitpicking of every Figuart here is a bit excessive and while everyone has the right to criticize, these are 1/12 action figures at the end of the day. The likeness will never be a perfect replica but it will be damn close to it. The technology in figures has come such a long way and too much criticism is too much. While these figures aren't perfect, they never will be. There'll always be something that people will find wrong with it. Just my two cents [emoji55]

Black series figure still awful even painted one sorry , its more like a monkey than chewbacca. You can complain about black series figures in black series section i'm really bored to see these figures in figuarts topic and it wouldnt be right to compare $15 figure to $50+ figure.Black series good at this price point but figuarts is another level.(Sorry about my english it's not my native language)

Am I the only one with no shipping notice from MyKombini? Paid 2 weeks ago for my day 1 preorder. They sold more on eBay on release day too and now OOS on site. No response from support.

They're a Japanese company, right? Golden Week just finished, so that might be why you didn't get a response from support yet. I'd try again and see if they respond now.

Thanks for replies. I managed to get it for $47 shipped by ordering early and now I just saw he's at least 80 everywhere so I'm really hoping they come through otherwise I'm SOL.

This sounds a bit apologetic, SHF Maul is already way better than any 1/6, and there are several American toy lines, like the NECA Preds that are also better than any 1/6, which is even more impressive considering the price.

Hell you can see repaints of the Mezco BVS Supes that show his sculpt is better than the hot toys. So scale shouldn't be an excuse anymore, especially when it's digital sculpting and they can shrink at will. Even old DC Direct figures of Alex Ross have a spot on likeness at 7" and those were hand sculpted.

I don't buy that "good for a 1/12" anymore.

Point is; If there's a figure that has better likeness in the same scale, then you really can't use the scale as a scapegoat.
