Forget the custom stuff, we're judging the products as is. the black series is orange, shiny, has a soft sculpt, and limited articulation. The shf has correct shades of brown with sharing, a sharp sculpt that looks like fur instead of plastic spaghetti, and natural flowing articulation figuarts is known for. You seriously can't say that the black series looks superior in a side by side image, that's just reaching the point of denial. The black series just looks like a cheap kids toy next to the figuarts.

That's not to say everyone isn't entitled to their own opinion though. You can prefer the black series for reasons such as price, but just competing the figures themselves, which is what this is all about, it's obvious which is the better one.

The sculpt on BS chewie looks nothing like the character to me. Bottom line is: both lines have their + and -; you just have to decide which one weighs the most in your eyes

It is actually messed up how long this Chewbacca debate has been going for. LOL

If I had to choose between the BS or the SHF Chewie one to display on my shelf it would be an easy choice. Figuarts Chewie is more than obviously the better figure. It would actually look ridiculous to have all my SW Figuarts on display with a BS Chewie standing with them. The inconsistency in aesthetic and quality would be jarring.

Would I consider him perfect? Hell no. But as a collector of Figuarts, there is no way I'd even consider adding the BS Chewie to the collection. It's simply just not as good.

And here i am still hoping for a figuarts General Veers (aside from Dooku) haha

Speaking of characters...anyone hazard a guess on how deep they'll go with this line? I'd love to see the bounty hunters and other characters outside of the main cast

That's the dream. But might be unrealistic to think we'll ever get a Veers or Bossk when characters like Dooku or Leia don't even seem like they are on the horizon. One can hope they get that far though!

Haha i agree! We could only dream. Imagine getting a figuart Kit Fisto and Ki Adi Mundi (two of my favorite Jedi designs)

I just received an email from nippon-yasan saying that Anakin's release date has moved up from May 30 to May 25.

I'm still holding out some hope for the ESB bounty hunters. They fit in with Japanese cultural tastes. Maybe that's why they are holding back Boba!

If it were so obvious there wouldn't be a debate. Yet here we are.

The reason there is a debate is most likely due to those that own the BS Chewie rationalizing not purchasing the figuarts since it is not perfect like every other figure in existence. That mixed with obvious trolls.

On another note, I finally heard back from mykombini after much complaint and they are charging me an additional 500 yen shipping or canceling my Chewie order. This is the second time this has happened with them, both orders were SAL preorders. Anyone else have this experience? Frustrating but will pay up as aftermarket is so high. Still crappy business and will reconsider ever purchasing from them.

Lol my feelings exactly. And then the comments about people being "triggered". It gets so old. This is a Figuarts thread. Some comparisons are nice of course, but come on. I'm going to get on the Sideshow/Hot Toys threads about their R2's not being worth the extra money because Hasbro's $9.99 version does the job fine. :lecture

And yes, 12parsecs, same thing happened to me with MyKombini. I bought 2 and they added another 900 yen. I guess the figure ended up being much heavier than they thought initially. They've been my go-to lately, but I'm definitely starting to miss getting the figures 2 days after release like with some other sites.

They are good figures (not Figuarts quality mind you) and definitely some of the better Black Series humans I've seen. I was in the same position as you and I went for it. At the very least I would get Leia as Figuarts hasn't even hinted at making her, and she looks good next to the Figuarts Luke.

Took me a couple of looks to see you'd done that line up yourself, nice one!

This talk about MyKombini isn't filling me with hope. I knew that economy shipping would mean it would take time, but, not being able to track the parcel is really bugging me. It's MINE and I need to know where it is!! LOL! I'm coming to the conclusion now, that, if I can't get it over here then I won't get it. I don't mind paying extra so long as I get in days and not weeks.

I've never had issues with their orders showing up, it's just that they're slow sometimes. They do have excellent customer service though!

Yeah, they are slow, I had that experience with my Tony Stark, but, I could at least track him so I knew where any hold ups were. If I haven't had anything by the end of the week, this being 4 since placing the order and 3 since dispatch, I'll contact them. For now it's just wait and see. It's annoying when you don't have anything else to do to fill the time, except look at what everyone else has done and wish you could be doing it to yours.

I'll get there....

Yeah I think with MyKombini anyone ordering should pick at a minimum the cheapest shipping that includes tracking. It seems that they only ship tracked in my experience and if you choose SAL unregistered they bill you extra for registered when shipped if it is on the heavier side. I'm guess smaller/cheaper items they may ship out SAL unregistered. From now on I will compare the total cost including registered SAL when comparing to HLJ and CDJ before ordering.

I was thinking another interesting thing for me about the Figuarts Chewie is I have never been a big fan of Chewbacca aesthetically, but I really love the look of this figure. It gives me a new appreciation for the balance and variety he brings to the trilogy as a character. It doesn't help that I haven't rewatched the OT nearly enough proportional to the amount of time spent collecting or browsing figures...
