Hot damn!

The S.H.MonsterArts Big Chap action figure was developed from the ground up to replicate poses from the Alien film. The overall style dictated by the long arms and legs of the actor inside the suit, and the finely detailed sculpting of the suit itself as designed by Geiger, are replicated in the product in exquisite detail. And it goes without saying that the Big Chap’s distinctive translucent head carapace is rendered with a separately-molded semi-translucent part, allowing the precision-sculpted skull beneath to show through (as a side note, a real skull is said to have been used for the movie costume). Posing was designed around the concept of a suit actor portraying the monster on-screen. For this reason, it was designed with a completely different joint system than that of the previously-sold Alien Warrior, which was rendered on-screen with 3D computer graphics. This faithful attention to design allows the figure to feel like a suit being worn by an actor when displayed. In other words, an Alien figure that looks exactly like the Alien on-screen, that can be posed exactly like the Alien on-screen.

Well, I'm afraid I'm not so impressed with it.
It is an absolutely beautiful figure, but it's not the perfect figure I was hoping it to be.

The dome, especially the front part looks wrong. I much prefer NECA's and Medicom's sculpt in that regard.
The lower legs look stubby and fat, and the feet are wrong as well.
The tail seems to be too short.

I will buy this without hesitation, of course, but I wish the sculpt was better.
So far, from the pics I've seen, I like the NECA sculpt better. I think mine is being delivered today, I hope it doesn't have any QC issues...

True, the ox jaw detail is missing. He's a bit bulkier all over than he should be too, but I like the size they went with on his head.

For a tiny figure I think he looks pretty nice. I love the revoltech, medi & HT offerings too, so I'm not that fussy. :lol

Can never have enough Giger Aliens!

I'm with Abake, it's not perfect. But in saying that it is a really cool version. I'll be getting it that's for sure. The quest still continues for the ultimate A L I E N figure.

Wow, that Alien looks beautiful! I really hope this line does well and they put out more figures like they do with their DBZ and Power Ranger lines. A Dog Alien with their articulation would be INCREDIBLE! I wonder who they have in store next after Big Chap. I'm guessing Scar since that's the only other prototype we've seen thus far.

Except NECA can't get that skull right and the QC for the dome placement is questionable. Other than the head the rest of the NECA Big Chap is top notch. The Monsterarts version has finally got the skull right! This is something even Hot Toys couldn't do in 1/6 scale! The dome itself is a little "bulbous" up front. Perhaps that's just the camera angle. May not have as much body detail as the NECA version (pretty close) but for it's size the Monsterarts version is a great tribute to the beast.

Still love the scale, perfect for putting them in your pocket. I usually pull them out to play with during service at church to kill time.

Beg to differ.
Now that I have it in hand, I think NECA's latest effort is the most accurate rendition.

I have to agree...neca has it right now...I was disappointed in the sh, that it couldn't "out-accurate" the neca which looks a lot more like the medicom and Roswell sano these days...but hs has the articulation down pat...

The neca finally got the nuance of the dome ( even tho QC issues bumbled the placement, the subtleties of the shape is there ... I might add The revoltech has the dome correct also...as well as the skynet aoshima alien.

That said I am excited to get this...dome reminds me of the back side of the marmit, and the front reminds me of the 25th anniversary DVD set bust...

The torso is a good length, limbs look kinda truncated...the details like the skull look stylized and squared off BUT
I LOVE how they sculpted the mouth, reminds me of kenner's alien

I'm curious, what is it about the SH skull that you find more accurate?

The SH sculpt reminds me of this stunt suit (which was fitted to the stunt man's proportions):

The shape of the dome is very similar, as well as the shape of the face itself, which looks very "long".

Besides the small size, that's the other reason I'm not into the figure. Had it looked like this I might have at least considered:

Yeah, I think I'm going to cancel... My main interest in Alien figures is the original Giger creation, and as nice as the AvP one looks, if the main one isn't up to par, I don't see much point in starting another collection.
