I am starting to watch the original Japanese Power rangers (the one that was used for the American version)
It definitely feels a tiny bit more serious than the American version we got. even with the silly monsters and the explosions, it feels a little more dramatic.

The music definitely sucks :lol:lol and Rita is more dramatic and over the top (if that could be possible lol) The power rangers origin is definitely INSANE :lol

plus they have no Zordon, they have this silly dude lol

latest

I know that guy, he runs a local deli in Bayside, Queens.

I didn't know he was the Virus, I had to look it up. :lol

I haven't thought about that show probably since it was on, but I remember owning this.

I started watching the American show this past weekend. Again, I don't understand the taboo of changing the dynamic of the teens when it was SO bad on the show to begin with. What they had going for them, was great chemistry and you believed they were all friends. But all the little High School plot lines were laughably bad.

BTW, in one of the shots of the Command Center where Zordon was talking was a far shot and you can see part of the ****ing sound stage in the corner :rotfl

And yes, I've watched some of Zyuranger and Don Wasserman's tracks from MMPR are God like by comparison.

I started watching the show too lol My gf watched the trailer and was like, "I've never seen the show, we need to watch it." We watched 10 episodes over the weekend lol

I can't lie, there's a part of me that actually really likes it, the Green with evil arc is still great.

I'm hoping in the movie that the intro to Jason with the car is the corner stone to his story arc, someone who's destined to be a leader but is haunted by the mistakes of his past, Rita would pretty much force him to believe he's as strong as he needs to be to save his friends.

I just watched the NYCC panel that Jye posted and the kid playing him said that he's an empathic character, which explains why he steps in on that bully in the trailer. He was kinda like that in the show too when Bulk and Skull would bully other students. People keep saying why did they make them like the weirdo outsiders. Jason is only there due to that car wreck I'm guessing since he's the star quarterback for the school and Kimberly did something to screw up her gymnastics or something (I assume it was that since it was on the show) as for the rest, we don't know their situations as to why they're all being forced to take classes on the weekends. It's Breakfast Club yeah, but unlike the show they want them to not really know each other before becoming Rangers.

On the panel they also talked about the Zords and how they were put in like Flight Simulators. Part of me thinks they're not going to be just controlling them like giant robots and they're going to be bonded to the pilot seats kinda like how the suits bond to their skin.

It seems like they got a good chemistry with each other. The original five spent time with each other off set too.

The director Dean Israelite also mentioned he grew up watching and was a fan of the original show, so let's hope that means something with the final product.

This movie looks pretty damn good. Given how the source material is...this certainly humanizes a lot of the characters in realistic situations more than ever before. I know people are saying "Oh this looks bad" etc. etc. Think about where this is coming from? Corny, ridiculous, over-the-top acting and paper-thin, predictable storylines.

I'm hoping we get a Tommy cameo.

The only bad thing is the suits. They needed better helmets. I can deal with the suits/design but the helmets are too similar and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the originals. Sure, the suits needed to be updated, but the helmets needed very little and we got a full Transfomers/TMNT redesign.

When I see pictures of her, I still feel a little grief. Sad to see anyone tragically die, let alone a hero of mine from childhood.

The other cast couldn't say enough good things about her. Even on the onset videos, she just comes off as a real kind and gentle soul.
