GG busts at least what've seen at SDCC from the LOTR line look great. They have such a life like feel to them IMO.
I would think they just "feel" like polystone.

This line is really making me angry. I LOVE these, but just can't justify buying more LOTR busts.

But these are specialty busts. Not to mention the likeness blows the SSW pieces out of the water. I actually really like the direction this line is going. Can't wait for the first two to ship this month. I'd love to see a Frodo with light up Sting.

I don't know about that. Most of the SSW line both bust and statue have pretty solid likenesses and you have to remember where HAND sculpted. These where done by machine.

Just noticed today that this bust is up for pre-order at many of our fine e-tailer collectible stores. Scheduled to ship in August. FYI....

I have to agree with Loki, the SSW pieces are pretty bad imo. I just never got into them and can't see spending money on them.

Anyhow, when it comes to GG, I dont think you should use their laser scanning as a scapegoat just to boost up SS. GG DOES handsculpt, they don't just push a magic button and end up with a mini bust.

You should have seen how the laser scanned likeness of Alec Guinness turned out for the Ben Kenobi bust before they adjusted it by hand. It almost looked as bad as their scan of Peter Cushing for the Tarkin bust.

:mummy

Tom, how does that work? I was under the impression that they were not able to do the laser scan for "older" characters like the Ben Kenobi bust.

Ok good for you. This line as good as it appears so far will never match the SSW line. As far as them being pretty bad that's your opinion and you have the right. I think the line kicked ass as do pretty much most of the people that bought them and have stuck with them. I'll take just about any SSW piece of a GG piece every time.

They laser scan first which gives them a head start over anyone who just does strictly handsculpting. It's not to boost SS just the plain honest truth that GG has a nice head start so I personally think there is less room for error on their pieces.

Don't get so pissy over my opinion Nash. I like GG and buy plenty of their stuff.

Oh, I was joking. Both those guys are dead. I was implying that they unearthed their graves and scanned their corpses. I tried to sound sarcastic and failed--my point was that not all of their stuff is derived from laser scans.

Right not all their stuff is but most of it is. Which makes it easier to do any handsculpting.

who says it makes it any easier? Until andy b. or any other sculptor says so, I'll tend to agree that it is a tool, not a crutch.

You don't think the laser scanning that is done doesn't make it easier? If some of it is done by the machine on the piece and a sculptor goes in and does some tweaking that would have to be some what easier correct? I'm not saying it's a cruch but a tool that makes the job a little easier.

The tone in which I have to assume your first reply was not a joyus reply to me. Just doing the math.

Love the new avatar nashy-boy. The Kurgans are gonna take you to town though over your rank! Yikes! I can hear Bannister now pulling out the "kill" list. :lol :lol :lol

Josh: relax bud, it's just my opinion. God forbid I don't like SSW piece

Swab: Bannister is cool, there's only a select few Kurgans that I like to piss off on purpose and to the rest, I mean no harm. :monkey3
