Kiss ups?
My friend I suggest you rethink your strategy.
No, I don't think its right to post a private message, unless said problem has failed to be resolved privately there is no reason for it to be public. That said, I've had my own PM's posted. And that was in a thread where the guy didn't want to "argue in public" so I took it to pm. He then posted my PM and called me crazy, or a lunatic or some such thing.
Of course, alienating anyone else here because they:
- don't agree
- didn't take your side
- don't want to get involved
well, thats not right either.
My thoughts?
Discuss it. Work it out or let it be. Move on.
Lord knows I've beaten my share of dead horses but I'm slowly learning which battles to fight and which are sacrificiable to win the war.

You see...THIS is why he is the general!!! :D

I would have loved a helmet like that at his age. I showed this to my son and he lliterally went ape.!!!

PZ, at my age, I would still love a helmet like that...and I WILL make one! I was going to buy Apemania's, but Bri said I should just make my own out of leather...and then I thought WHY NOT? I'm going to sculpt my own 1:1 scale General Ursus AND make him a removeable helmet. I CAN DO THIS!! I just need to find a nice pair of glass eyes on Feebay.

PZ in a few days, I'm going to finally finish my Dr. Zaius gloves. I just need to glue on the hieroglyphs...but they are 90% done.

Guys I am so excited! Andy (WestBatman) just sold me something ape related 1:1 scale that I have always wanted to have but didn't need!! (Isn't that always the case?) I will post photossss as soon as it arrives. It will probably arrive sometime next week... Thanks, Andy! This means a whole lot to me.

Here are my Dr. Zaius gloves. It took longer than I expected to cut out the hieroglyphs. I tried to do it with a ruler and I couldn't get it to look right, so I finally just eyeballed it. (That's why I could never get an A in drafting...). Tomorrow, if I can find the time, I am going to spray the hieroglyph down with 3M glue spray and then I'm going to take the extra pair of gloves I have so that I can cover it with the same colored leather. I decided to go with leather underneath instead of thin craft foam because I didn't want to look for the craft foam, and the black leather seemed like it was a good thickness.

Here's some color on Ashton's Ape-pliance:

I also knitted a hat for my baby nephew. It's a Viking hat with horns...I need to knit the ear flaps, wash it, and then send it off to my sister. I'll photograph my baby chimp wearing it before I send it. The hat looks so cute!

What a busy monkey I've been...

I thought this thread was about keeping existing POTA lines (Sideshow, Hot Toys) going, not making your own custom figures, masks, and props?

This thread is about keeping Planet of the Apes ALIVE!!
While it originated in trying to get SS to rethink their strategy and produce more POTA figures, it welcomes ANY creativity that shows that interest in POTA still exists.

You would be surprised that the skills you use for 1:1 scale is the same type of skill you need for dollies....and working on special effects makeup and your own props, etc. really make you look at your dollies in a new light. You should try it someday, it's highly recommended. :monkey1:monkey1:monkey1

But we do try not to refer to them as "dollies" :monkey5

Ok, while sitting here waiting for a ton of people to get back to me (if they ever do :banghead) I got the paints back out. Everything is in mid-work but I've done 6 gorillas, 4 backpacks, a human and a lizard. They all need tweaking but I'm pleased so far.

If someone were to start a thread devoted to Planet of the Apes Hot Toys and Sideshow only customizing...how long would it survive? You guys want to start one?

I bet you'd see a lot of tumbleweeds pass by and hear a lot of crickets chirping.

For the month of Oktober, I'm going to help our brethren in the Kurgan Krusade...and say....

KONGRATS, Ironman!!!

Guys who are not happy to be here... please feel free to start your own thread since obviously this thread is not headed down the path you want.

Jess, it's so not like you to get overly touchy.
There is no need for this group to break apart. We have weathered mighty storms that battered us, war with the Kurgans that strengthened us and the resurgence of 1:6 apes which has pleased us.
Let's stay the course and push for more.
From wherever it may come!!

Got to monkeying around with the HT gorillas, and realized that, if you have all 3, you can make a 4th. I give you, Security Chief Urko...

Closer, lookin' real...

Without the helmet...
This took all of 5 minutes to perform, though I spent the better part of 2 days thinking about it. The parts breakdown is as follows:
General Ursus:Head, helmet, collar,gauntlets
Gorilla Captain: Belt and pistol
Gorilla Soldier:Everything else
As I'm not a huge fan of Urko(I always thought he was a bit of an oaf) I restored my trio to their proper form right away, but I'm sure some of you simiophiles are getting all wet and trembly at the possibilities here...PS
