Keep McFarlane away from the Apes. His concept of an "articulated" figure has maybe a dozen joints at most, and his hiring practices are byzantine at best. In order to get a job sculpting with him, he REQUIRES a B.A., regardless of previous work experience, so someone like me, a non-degreed pro with over 15 years in the field is not an acceptable hire. And no, I haven't actually applied with him; aside from the job requirements, I don't want to live in N. Jersey(the 4th level of Hell IMHO)...PS

:lol:lol:rotfl

Hey Jessica, how's that 1:1 T'pring costume coming along or is that on the back burner?

T'Pring is on my mind! Time is getting close. January 23 or January 24 is my deadline. I think as I have 2 solid weekends to work on it, I should be fine. I've been too sick to make it, but I do have all the fabric. I hope I find my old shoes....otherwise I might have to sacrifice a blue pair of shoes that I will spray silver. PLus I have to buy the hair pieces and put together a wig...It won't be as hard as Zira's wig...I just need to make a mongo braid.

So when is that convention in the Bay area? Can't wait to see some photos when your project is completed.:D

BTW, sorry to hear that you're sick. Must have some nasty stuff.:sick

McFarlane makes a lot of my favorites, I guess you can't really call them figures. They probably would look very similar to the medicoms. They really dropped the ball on the Jessica Biel chainsaw figure though... I was going to have her sign one when she was signing at the shrine a few years ago(promoting Blade Trinity), until I saw how terrible the likeness was...

I was out yesterday and forgot to pour some resin in there. I just did, so I'll post photos of how it comes out. After the resin cures, I will re-attach the tears and I'll try another resin pour tonight. The mold material says it fully cures in 4 hours, and I'll be painting the tears very lightly so it should cure fast.

Jess, take a bit of advice from someone who's been in the sculpting/casting biz(professionally and on my own time)for quite a few years? Take Your Time. I know that you can't wait to get the casting rolling, but it's far better to give the rubber all the time it needs to cure and be confident that it'll stand up to the demands of casting. Remember, every cast takes a bit out of the mold, and this one is starting with a handicap. You should also find a nice high shelf to store your molds on. A sound thrashing might also be in order...PS

Other than re-working Ursus head and one of my Soldiers, no, I've never tried sculpting an ape(at least not the"planet" kind). I have done Kong a few times, as well as my own take on a Yeti. And , of course, numerous dinosaurs. S'pose I ought to give one a try some day...PS

Guys, news on the Apes Conspiracy, per Drew Gaska:

The book has been delayed until the Fall 2010, but we should have advance copies available for sale at San Diego Comic Con 2010. Attached please find an exclusive image and a sketch of the cover for you to post. The exclusive painting is by artist Dan Dussault and is entitled 'The Bridge to Ape City'. The cover sketch is by Jim Steranko.

There are two wonderful new paintings posted on the apes yahoo group, so check them out.

Guys let me know if you are interested in Pete's cast...or if you want to hold out and wait for Alan and I can ship them together. Just send me a PM. I can only offer them unpainted because my painting skills are subpar. $25 per head. I'll pay for s/h to keep things simple. You will have to drill out the neck to fit your figure.

Jess, did you ever post pix of Pete and Alan's final versions? Do you have a link to those Conspiracy pix?

I'll post pics tonight of Pete's cast next to my SS Robert Patrick's head so you can gauge the size. I need to make a mold of Alan first. I wish it were the weekend already!!

I don't have a link to the Conspiracy pics--you just have to be a member of the apes yahoo group. I'll try to post photos later of those. They are really fabulous.

Hi Jess! I sent you a PM! Thanks, Kent.

Still trying to figure out how to post the other 2 new images...The exclusive painting is by artist Dan Dussault and is entitled 'The Bridge to Ape City'. The cover sketch is by Jim Steranko. Neat-o, huh?

"The Bridge to Ape City" painting is just fantastic. I love it...

I really don't much care for the cover sketch though. It seems like I've seen the same type of look done many times.

I really love that painting because it's such a new way to look at Ape City...from a different viewpoint. It just takes my breath away!

LOL! I keep forgetting about this thread.:lol

I disagree. I've been a fan of Jim Steranko since his early work on X-Men and Nick Fury from the Silver Age of Marvel in the late 60s. I think that sketch is fantastic.
