PZ--I still say you should go under an orangutan mask to SDCC.

I think if I did, my brother would disown me. I went to numerous Star Trek Conventions in the mid seventies dressed head to toe as a POTA Gorilla.

One day I have to find someway of posting pictures of those conventions on this thread.

They are slides. :gah:

ha ha ha ha that's funny.:lol

I thought you went there by yourself, PZ. Who cares what your brother thinks? My own peeps have disowned me anyway by now. That's why I hang with you guys. :1-1:

No, both my brother and father (who are BOTH members of this particular Freak Board) have been footing the bill ever since I've been going since 2004.

My brother being in the movie business and all, I owe it to him to "ape"pear a little less freaky in public. :monkey3:monkey3:monkey3

heres my almost finished Rebel Ape. What I have left to do is dremmel Cornelius hair off, then add life like hair/fur, how Hot Toys made thier Apes heads. Repaint or touch up the head. Then add small details, M1 carbine rifle, pipe, cigar, bananas and a note book. And some light weathering done to the outfit.

Whole outfit/accessories is from Che by DID.

Yeah, I totally snoozed on that Cornelius card. :slap

And considering that I really didn't like the posters too much at SDCC last year, I really couldn't pull the trigger and buy them just to get the card. Hopefully I might be able to get one for trade somewhere down the line.

Perhaps they might have extras of him at SDCC next month.
:

Bad news PZ--BLAM does NOT have a booth at SDCC--the rest of the Cornelius cards will be set free at the NY con sometime in October.

:gah::gah:

And Angel--the ape book will not be released until November. If BLAM can't make that deadline, then March 2011 is the target date.

They did get enough interest for this poster, so YAY!!! Whooot!!! 40 gun salute in Ape City!!!! Of course, I'm on the list. I better get a low poster number!!

That's too bad. I was looking forward to scoring an advance copy of that "Conspiracy" book next month... as well as getting a few more cards for the set. :monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

It looks like I'm gonna have to resort to eBay to get that Cornelius card. :gah::gah::gah:

I wonder what is the plan now for the roll out of the rest of the cards? :dunno

That Bridge painting is VERY tempting... how much is it?

More Ape reboot news:

John Lithgow, Freida Pinto join 'Apes'
Fox's prequel stars James Franco

By Borys Kit Share

John Lithgow and Freida Pinto are coming on board "Rise of the Apes," Fox's prequel to its "Planet of the Apes" franchise starring James Franco.

Rupert Wyatt will direct the feature, which focuses on a scientist (Franco) who has been working on a cure for Alzheimer's that is being tested on apes. The test subject named Caesar evolves rapidly, and the scientist takes him home to live with him and protects him from cruel doctors.

Lithgow will play Franco's Alzheimer's-stricken father. Pinto is the movie's female lead, a primatologist.

The movie shoots this summer in British Columbia.

Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark will produce for Chernin Entertainment. Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa wrote the screenplay and are producing.

Pinto made her acting debut with "Slumdog Millionaire" and is shooting "Immortals," the Greek gods fantasy directed by Tarsem Singh.

Lithgow is coming off a career-rejuvenating turn as a villainous serial killer in Showtime's "Dexter," a role that earned him a Golden Globe. On film, he last appeared this year in the romantic comedy "Leap Year."

i think there is potential. it is not "our" Planet of the Apes, but nothing ever could be again. there is room for both.

(there is no room for Burton's though).

At least Burton went with actors in simian makeup. Not CGI. The only way i could see accepting CGI apes is is they were well done in the Chambers style and in a continuation of the film or TV storyline.

Say what you will about the Burton remake, it did finally make a monkey out of Heston!

I would love to own this card some day.

What is the specs on this print? How big is it? Is it still available? And for how much? I wonder if they would be willing to throw a couple of Cornelius cards (one for my son Alex) in the purchase?

And finally, is Conspiracy available for pre-order?

The makeup for the males were spectacular. The female chimps very fugly and disappointing. Burton should not have named it Planet of the Apes. Perhaps I would not have been so devastated.

What possessed them to add eye brows to the female chimps. :cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

And they HAD to name it Planet of the Apes. That was the only reason they made it in the first place... to cash in on the namesake. It is the same reason the new Karate Kid film was not named The Kung Fu Kid.

Just you wait and see. The new film will be called "Planet of the Apes: Rise of the Apes."
