If they were going to CGI then we should have gotten the same old folks as they were in the old Ape City. CGI Apes in present day San Francisco is a terrible idea.

So, no one remembers the 1/6th lawgiver bust? I was really hoping to get one.
Bunkermeister - Thanks for your interest, but I won't be making any copies of these. It'll cost way too much to make the silicone mold.

Angel, you should make a thread of all your wonderful work so that I can look at it and get inspired.

Just click on my General Ursus avatar. Once in there, click on the albums. I have a few pictures in there of my Planet of the Apes customs.

Angelofmusic2112 thank you for your prompt reply to my request.

I would not think a mold would be all that expensive, I make RTV molds all the time. I would be willing to pay or even borrow the bust and make a mold, cast it and return both the original and mold.

Thanks.

I usually buy my silicone rubber from miromark.

https://www.micromark.com/ONE-TO-ONE-and-RAPID-MOLD-RUBBER-32-FL-OZ,7883.html

After shipping, it'll cost around $47

Casting resin is a little bit cheaper, but also required as you know.

https://www.micromark.com/CR-600-CASTING-RESIN-32-FL-OZ,7879.html

So we're talking close to $100 just for just these required supplies.

Again, thanks for inquiring, but I'm not interested in this type of work at this time.

Angel--I am trudging along the same path you found. I am uninspired. Why is it so? Is it because I have so many things left undone? There are so many things i want to do yet I don't know where to begin or how to finish. I'm so confused. I think I need to break out the camera and take more photos...but the photos I want need some kind of set build up, and I have guests coming and need to concentrate on that instead of playing with my toys. I just want to play with my toys for a bit but can't. Is that where my inspiration dies?

pota

I have been working on my POTA Hasbro figures. My goal is to make a female gorilla.

Bunkermeister - It's so good to actually see someone working on a project that is considered "creative". :exactly:

This thread really needs more of that to hold my interest. Otherwise we're all just photographing the same store bought figures. (yawn)

I really like your idea with the Hasbro Zira, it's very original in my eyes turning her into a female gorilla. :hi5:

Rather than paint the head, I painted the hands and wrists and popped off a Hasbro Gorilla Soldier head, using the hair dryer method suggested by you apes here, thank you very much, and put that Gorilla head on the Zira body. I think the dark gray Gorilla head looks pretty good as a female Gorilla.

I have many new projects in mind and I will post photos here and on my Bunker Talk blog as they are in progress and as they are completed.

As you all have inspired me, I hope to inspire you.

Bunkmeister, that looks really awesome! I think it's a pretty accurate representation of a female gorilla since I don't think the gorillas had to wear latex ears like the chimps in the movie. I would never have thought of doing this!!

This IS inspiring. Keep at it please and awaken the sleeping ape fanatic within me.

Take one Dr. Zira and one Gorilla Soldier from Hasbro. Remove both heads and the clothing from the Dr. Zira. Use Rit Dye Remover on the clothing. Then use Rit "Wine" dye on the clothing. I followed the directions exactly, using the stove top method. I used an entire bottle of the liquid dye, which is serious overkill according to the directions.

I hung the clothing outside to dry for a day. The dress the Dr. Zira body with Gorilla Soldier head, using the now dyed Dr. Zira clothing. The entire operation takes about four hours, not including dry time. I waited 24 hours for full dryness.

I wore old clothing in case I splashed dye on myself. I purchased a plastic spoon from the dollar store and a stainless steel pot from Target specifically to perform the dye operation. I also got some tongs to handle the dyed clothing, from the dollar store.

Dr. Zira and Gorilla Soldier from eBay.

Total project cost, dye, accessories, Dr. Zira and Gorilla Soldier, pot, spoons, etc less than $100. I ended up with a female Gorilla, and a Gorilla Soldier with a female chimp head. Not sure what to do about that at this time. I will probably paint the head black and call it a Gorilla. I have the tools to do more, the main costs in the future will be Dr. Zira and Gorilla figures.

:clap Nice pictures there Bunkermeister.

Jessica, I received your package yesterday. Thank you very much.:1-1:

Thank you Angel, Jessica and Stickman. You have inspired me, now I am trying to pay that back a little bit.

<a href="https://s626.photobucket.com/albums/tt349/Bunkermeister1945/pota/?action=view&current=POTAGorillaFemaleFrontII.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt349/Bunkermeister1945/pota/POTAGorillaFemaleFrontII.jpg" border="0" alt="Female Gorialla Front II"></a>

The head of the Female Gorilla seems to work well for male or female gorilla.

That's cool Bunkermeister. I didn't notice the Lawgiver until you mentioned it. I think by adding one figure next to the Lawgiver would really help establish distance and scale, maybe one of the red soldiers so he draws the eye. You have found a perfect location to present your Ape collection. :hi5:

Keep those pictures coming.

Stickman, thanks for the kind words. Actually the lack of a figure next to the Lawgiver prevented you from determining the distance and the scale, as I intended. It is the Medicom Lawgiver, only about seven inches tall! Without an Ape or other identifiable item near him, in the bleak terrain of the Forbidden Zone, my backyard, his tiny size is not so much of a problem.
