Sixx, you are most welcome. The folks on this thread are the best, bar none. I welcome you fully and am glad you are one with us.

IM, thanks for the kinds words. I really am excited about starting over, and I hope I can bring some inventive things to the ape table in the upcoming months ahead!

Thanks again everyone!

You are part of our ape family now. :1-1:

Ironman always looks out for us. :hi5:

I was in a foul mood that I couldn't shake today. I painted my nails black and somehow I feel a little bit better. Wondering when I am going to go in full ape gear again. I wish it were soon. I need to get my ape on.

Sixx I was thinking maybe your General Ursus has a lot of glue under that helmet. Do you have any glue removers that could help to dissolve the bond?

Jess,

Thanks for the kind words. First thing I'm going to do, is heat the neck-body area, and take the head off. From there, I'll try popping it off again. But, trust me, its on there real tight. I almost want to use a flathead screw driver on it, but I'm slightly afraid in damaging it

Hey, the blow drier technique did not work for me, so I heated the utensil and applied a number of times.

KFog - I'm not using a blow dryer. I'm using a heat gun that gets up to 1000 degrees in tempertaure. That's enough to melt the gorillas boots into a small puddle of black rubber. You have to be careful if you use this.

Hi Mark! I think that the heat gun used in the correct way would be the fastest and better technique! Do you plan on trying it soon?:yess:

I-Man...

Go to the customs section...

Spencer has got some great Starsky and Hutch sculpts started!

Here is my latest “work in progress” for a background ape. Sadly, it looks more like a cross between a baboon, a Hot Toys Truetype head and a ball of Sculpey. ;) I don’t claim to have sculpting skills, but I had to give it try.

I have an idea for a larger scene to send a visual request message to Hot Toys. However, I doubt I could finish it before I go on business travel again.

I would like to see Hot Toys make (at least) Zira, Cornelius, Zaius, and Zira and Cornelius as ape-o-nauts. (I have all the Medicom versions.) Perhaps Hot Toys could make it a two costume set. For example, Hot Toys could include one Zira head, her original costume and the space suit. They might make more money that way. Customizers could make a Dr. Milo head…I know…I’m dreaming. :)

I don't think so - I have a couple pairs of normal boots already painted red and the heat gun would ruin the paint. I've been thinning out my collection latley so I don't have extra boots. Someone else may have to try this, maybe it'll be you.:exactly:

DP that ape looks wonderful to me. Keep at it and soon you'll be better than Hot Toys!! I can't wait to see your whole dio.

Ironman--I have ordered yarn for that Starsky sweater. Hoping that finger weight is small enough. Wasn't sure if I should have ordered lace weight.

Yea DP, the detail is exquisite and the part where you incorporated the original figures hair with the added hair is remarkable! Which figure did you start with?:hi5:

Thanks so much for the encouragement. :)

I started with the Hot Toys “TTM14 Caucasian narrow shoulder” figure.

I keep breaking little pieces off and having to fix it. I guess the only way to remedy that problem is to make a mold and resin casts of it, right?

George Taylor: In my world, when I left it, only kids your age wore beards.

I reworked the beard as seen below. (I need to force myself to move on to another ape project. :frank ) …

Finally, something to look forward to!!
I may have to watch a few episodes of S & H later now!!

DP, I like the look of the ape you've got going there. I've been thinking about trying that over an existing head too. Seeing how great Jess' always turn out and now what you're accomplishing I just might. Of course, I still haven't mastered painting yet.
I look forward to seeing yours completed.

Okay, so I took one for the team. I just ordered a wig.

I will post my review once it arrives. If it works out, we might be able to get a group discount.

The wig looks pretty darn close to me.
