I thought about buying those black wigs for a while so we are thinking alike.

I bought two of the brown wigs and made a furry chimp head. Probably the best advice I would share is to use thin double sided tape to secure the wig parts. I used drops of super glue but it still soaked through.

I contacted the wig seller and tried to explain a couple of times that I wanted to purchase just a sheet of the fur. Sadly, English wasn't his primary language and I failed to communicate. I have even purchased “craft fur” online and researched fly fishing lures materials. When it arrived, it was too coarse and would not follow the contour of the head like the brown fur I purchased and Hot Toys’ fur does.

DP--you can always use toupee tape. You can get them at wig shops or costume shops.

For gluing down, you can also use prosthetic aide. What you do is brush your ape's head with it and let it dry. Do the same to the wig. Once it's tacky bring the two together and they will stay stuck. It shouldn't soak through if you put it on lightly enough.

I think super glue is too watery--if you used a goopy glue, like a fabric glue, it shouldn't go through the cloth.

The problem with most of the furs you see at craft stores is that they are too rough and will not behave. They have a totally different texture from the Hot Toys gorilla hair. The other stuffed animal I encountered are those plush toys (puffles) from club penguin. The only thing is they are the wrong colors.

What do you think guys? I think I could have gone wider by a little bit...but then Cornelius is wearing it over his wide outfit. The yarn came today and I decided I couldn't wait...I forgot how cumbersome it is to knit with more than one color (Fair Isle knitting). On one swatch of the knitting I actually had three colors going around each other at the same time. I was tempted to cut up the yarn and put them on smaller spools, but I kept them whole--this meant untangling the yarn after every other row.

I love the weight of the yarn. I'll have to photograph it in daylight because it's not exactly cream. It's oyster shell.

Ironman I just noticed that the sweater has pockets--do you think I should incorporate that into this sweater? So Starsky can cram the sweater belt in there?

Anyway, it's just a practice swatch. I still need to lay out the pattern on graph paper. The bottom pattern was easy enough to wing it. I just hope to god I finish this sweater. I don't see a reason not to--I just get so easily distracted.

I don't know how much those wigs are pricing for, but if you just bought that mongolian fur you'd be able to hair up 20 gorillas at least for $30. Remember those wigs are not real hair wigs--they are a fabric/fur...I know that $30 for a square foot sounds pricey, but those wigs are even more so if you look at how much fabric you are really buying. I think if you split out the cost between two or three people, the mongolian fur would pay for itself.

I don't think that they'd be absolutely necessary. Maybe see how the first one turns out and then judge how difficult it would be to add them?

I sliced mine off with a sharp razor. It was too much work to try and remove it nicely so I tore it off. I was just curious about how the face would look on top of a Hot Toys gorilla. I don't really care for the headsculpt anyway...too cartoony.

Yes it can. What are you looking to do with it? A transplant?
Heating with a hair dryer will soften the head and the I use a small flathead screwdriver [CAREFULLY] to help pry it up over the neck stud.
